CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 354: Chapter 362: Who’s Trying to Please You

He rarely came home, only about three or four times a year, and for Jane Sampson to run into him this many times indicated that throughout those years, she had always been living alone.

But James Black knew that Jane Sampson had always enjoyed a lively life, not one spent in solitude.

His thoughts reached this point when the bathroom door clicked, and Jane Sampson walked out, stopping just two steps from the doorway, her face full of smiles as she waved to James Black.

”Come here for a second,” Jane Sampson chuckled, scratching her head, ”Can you help me wash it?”

After not washing for a day, Jane Sampson felt she might stink if she didn’t wash her hair soon.

James Black put her mobile phone back in its original spot and got up, walking over to her. Once beside her, he gently wrapped an arm around her waist and said, ”Just now, Julie Sampton called you. I picked it up, nothing important, so I hung up and blocked her for you.”

”What do you mean, ’nothing important’? I thought I saw someone resembling her at the cinema today, with David Chip. Not sure if I was mistaken,” Jane Sampson muttered, ”David Chip has been engaged to his girlfriend for two years, and their engagement banquet was such a grand affair. Everyone says David Chip is the model perfect fiancé. It’s unlikely he’d be out watching a movie with another woman, right?”

The key point was that David Chip’s hand was wrapped around that woman’s waist the whole time.

Knowing David Chip’s feelings toward his girlfriend, Jane Sampson felt she must’ve mistaken someone else for Julie.

”It was her with David Chip.” James Black thought he was the only one who had seen them in the afternoon, ”If Julie Sampton wants to jump into a fire pit, no one else is to blame.”

David Chip’s fiancée is an heiress of a furniture tycoon. Back then, their engagement had made national headlines; even their engagement feast was more luxuriously celebrated than many others’ weddings.

The couple had been engaged for two years, and the outside world was constantly speculating about when they would officially marry. But today, it was James Black and Jane Sampson who caught this scene first.

”If David Chip’s fiancée finds out, I bet it will be tough for her,” Jane Sampson shrugged, ”But none of this has anything to do with me.”

David Chip’s fiancée is famously stubborn. When her cousin cheated on and upset her best friend, she directly cracked her cousin’s skull open, landing him in the hospital for over half a month.

That incident is something everyone in their circle knows about. Nina Rice even told Jane Sampson the story as a joke.

James Black nodded, agreeing with the last thing Jane Sampson said.

Indeed, these matters had nothing to do with them.

But...

”Why did you change the nickname?” This, however, did concern him.

James Black’s tone was accusatory, ”Considering you were trying to please me, I waited for you until one-thirty. Don’t burn your bridges just yet—that’s not like you.”

???

Jane Sampson exclaimed, looking utterly confused, ”Who was trying to please you?”

She walked towards James Black and, standing on her tiptoes, strained to look him in the eye and asked, ”Who’s burning bridges?”

”James Black’s wife,” James Black snorted, quickly followed by a cold huff, ”Remember, you’re not allowed to change this nickname. Got it?”

Sensing something off in James Black’s demeanor, Jane Sampson ran to the bed and reached under the pillow to take out her mobile phone, opened WhatsApp, and looked.
