I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 185: Chapter 184: A Man Came Looking for You

Once the construction starts, you have to keep this tension. Generally, relations between rural neighbors are quite ordinary, as many issues are involved that can generate conflicts and some interest disputes, like building a house.

The situation at Luo Er’s family is relatively good, with no one living behind the house, the family in front is easier to deal with, and further south is Zhang Qiao Niang’s family, where they can look after each other.

There’s no one causing trouble around here, so the house is built steadily. Although there is fear of unexpected events, the tension doesn’t need to be that tight.

You can tell the situation at Luo Er’s family just by looking at them, and Luo Anguo’s leg is getting better and better. A month has passed, and he walks much more steadily now.

Now many people call Beisitian ’Doctor Bei’ when they see her. The reputation of Luo Er’s family compared to a year ago is completely different; although there are still people who criticize Luo Xudong and Luo Anguo behind their backs, they don’t dare to speak openly anymore, who doesn’t know Beisitian is protecting them!

Beisitian has clearly become the ’daughter-in-law of another family.’

”Little Tian’er, what happened to you?” Mrs. Qin looked at Beisitian in a daze while pouring water, seeing the water about to overflow, said.

Beisitian snapped back, with a slight curve at the corner of her mouth, ”Nothing, mom, just thinking about the house construction.”

Mrs. Qin noticed her insincerity and sighed, ”Little Tian’er, if you have anything to say, you can tell us. We might not be able to help, but talking to us might lighten your heart.”

She could see Beisitian seemed to be worried about something. Before, she never hid anything. When did she start having secret concerns?

Thinking carefully, Mrs. Qin realized she became occasionally distracted after coming back from the mountains!

”I’m fine, mom, don’t worry.” Beisitian found it hard to explain. Luo Xudong’s identity is currently secret, how could she speak about it, better let them misunderstand for now.

Mrs. Qin sighed again, appeared somewhat desolate; she knew Beisitian didn’t want them to be unnecessarily worried, but she couldn’t help feeling some heartache seeing Beisitian so often lost in thought.

Seeing Mrs. Qin’s expression, Beisitian knew she hadn’t managed to control her emotions well and chose not to elaborate. If Luo Xudong failed his mission, it would be better to keep this quiet.

That was the worst scenario. For some reason, thinking of this possibility made Beisitian’s heart ache a little.

Only a little, yet clearly enough to make Beisitian pause for a moment.

The house rose day by day, overseen by Luo Anguo, many issues were promptly identified, especially when tiling the walls, he meticulously pointed out all the gaps inside.

”Dad, how come you know so much about this?” Beisitian asked Luo Anguo who was checking the corners.

With tasks to do, Luo Anguo was no longer the same as before. He replied earnestly as he examined, ”I used to work with a stonemason for a while; although not long, I came in contact with these things.”

Beisitian nodded, makes sense.

”Dad, with the walls tiled, we could lay tiles on the floors too,” Beisitian suggested.

Luo Anguo paused, ”You want to lay them?”

”Wouldn’t it look better?” Beisitian smiled.

Here it’s common to have patterned tiles halfway on the outer walls; the ground was typically bluish-gray, saving costs. But Beisitian felt there was no need to save this money, finishing it all at once would be better!

”Alright, then let’s tile the floors too.” Luo Anguo agreed readily.

Mrs. Qin, standing nearby, glared at him; she’d tried to persuade Luo Anguo for days, but he wouldn’t agree to tile the floors, yet with one word from Little Tian’er, he yielded.

Mrs. Qin wasn’t truly angry; facing Beisitian’s request, she wouldn’t reject either, especially since the money was earned by Beisitian, she could do as she wished.

With no farm work and many laborers, the house was raised quickly. According to the foreman, it wouldn’t be long before they could put on the roof. Once the roof was done, the house would be essentially complete, then just some finishing touches would be needed.

Because of the many workers, by September they could roof it.
