Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 1171 - 698: New Mission

”Director Lei...”

”Luo Ye, there’s a new mission. Are you interested in joining?”

Luo Ye swallowed back what she wanted to say and asked, ”Where to?”

”Yuanzhou Mine, under your father’s jurisdiction.”

”Because of the flooding incident?”

Lei Dawei scrutinized her expression, ”It seems, that girl came to you for this issue too.”

Luo Ye nodded, ”Yes, her parents both work at Yuanzhou Mine.”

Lei Dawei gestured to the driver, ”Drive to the Wen Family Mansion.” Then he turned to Luo Ye, ”Tell me in detail what she knows about the situation.”

”After the flooding, the mine owner kept the news under wraps. Her father was on the middle shift that day, just happened to be underground. Her mother worked in the mine’s canteen and only heard about it half an hour after the incident.

The mine owner promised the families of the trapped workers that, regardless of life or death, compensation would be given. The requirement was that they couldn’t leak the news, but the exact amount wasn’t disclosed. Furthermore, they repeatedly promised that the mine would do everything possible to rescue the trapped workers.

However, all the veteran workers at the mine knew that, with Yuanzhou Mine’s rescue capabilities, without external help, nine out of ten trapped people wouldn’t survive.

Some family members tried to sneak out to report it, but the miners’ security stopped them and locked them up. However, the mine owner soon distributed fifty thousand to each family of the trapped workers, saying that after the rescue was over, an additional fifty thousand would be given for the deceased while three thousand for the injured. For those without injury or death, the money would not need to be returned.

Because there were rumors that the mine owner of Yuanzhou Mine had connections and added to the temptation of money, most family members dared not make a fuss. Those who cared more about people than money were persuaded by others to wait and see, leaving them with no choice.

Sang Cao’s mother always acted very rationally, so no one specifically watched her. She reported the news using the phone hidden in her apron while going to the bathroom.

During the New Year, Sang Cao mentioned to her family that she was a classmate of the Ludong Province Governor’s daughter, so her mother rushed to call her, hoping it would make a difference.”

Lei Dawei sighed heavily with a grave expression, ”These people are really lawless. If it weren’t for our people being in Yuanzhou on another mission, we wouldn’t have gotten the news so quickly. We wouldn’t have known that the seemingly legitimate Yuanzhou Mine had such big problems.

The rescue team has been dispatched to the nearest place, so the rescue of personnel should not be delayed. As for the outcome, it depends on the severity of the flooding.

Tomorrow morning, you and Zhao Qianqian will fly directly to Yuanzhou City, your identity being members transferred to the Cultural Troupe. The procedures will be processed overnight, and the transfer order will be issued to the Cultural Troupe tomorrow morning.

Once you arrive in Yuanzhou, quietly investigate first, report the next day. Your purpose this time is to find out the mine owner’s backing and wipe out this group of criminals altogether.

You should understand why you’re being sent to do this. However, even in your father’s domain, act cautiously, and safety first.”

”Got it.” Hearing that the rescue team had already been dispatched, Luo Ye breathed a sigh of relief, though she was secretly puzzled. This matter didn’t warrant Fierce Tiger’s intervention. Could it involve another big fish?

Lei Dawei glanced at Luo Ye, guessing from her expression, he explained, ”There have been reports about Yuanzhou Mine, but multiple investigation teams concluded there were no issues.

Ironically, three days ago, the disciplinary department received a complaint, which was forwarded to me for assistance. Unexpectedly, something happened today.”

”I see.” Luo Ye nodded in understanding, her eyes swirling, ”If I keep missing exams due to consecutive missions, what should I do?”

”Even if you’re away on a mission for half a year, you’d definitely pass the exams when you return.” Lei Dawei glanced at her, ”If there’s any request, just say it directly, don’t beat around the bush.”

”Hehe...” Caught in her thoughts, Mou Ye chuckled awkwardly, ”After this mission is done, can I go home for a few days?
