Rebirth: The Courtyard Bride Is Cool and Radiant

Chapter 740: Chapter 740: I Can’t Just Secretly Run Away with You

A voice came from the office: ”Come in.”

Before Huo Jingrui could push the door, someone inside had already opened it: ”Comrade, who are you looking for?”

Huo Jingrui glanced inside, just as Xiao Yuanshan looked over.

Seeing the visitor, Xiao Yuanshan immediately stood up from behind the desk: ”Brother Huo, what brings you here?”

As they got closer, he noticed Yunyi standing behind Huo Jingrui: ”Ah, is this your wife?”

Huo Jingrui introduced them with a smile: ”Yunyi, this is my brother Xiao, Guo Qiming’s cousin-in-law. You can call him Brother Xiao.”

Yunyi nodded at Xiao Yuanshan: ”Hello, Brother Xiao.”

Huo Jingrui then continued with the introduction: ”This is my fiancée, Chuyunyi.”

Xiao Yuanshan had heard Huo Jingrui mention Yunyi before: ”Hello, hello, I’ve heard Brother Huo talk about you, truly a perfect match.”

As he spoke, he pointed to the adjacent room: ”Come, let’s talk over here.”

The office was crowded and chaotic, and the smoke-filled environment wasn’t suitable for hosting guests.

Once inside the small meeting room, Xiao Yuanshan fetched some cups from below and poured them water: ”Have some water.”

Huo Jingrui took the cup: ”Brother Xiao, we’re here to ask for a favor.”

Xiao Yuanshan laughed heartily: ”Go ahead.”

Huo Jingrui lowered his voice: ”We want to buy some Maotai liquor. But there’s a ration and quota requirement, I wondered if you had any connections?”

Xiao Yuanshan thought for a moment: ”How much do you need?”

Huo Jingrui looked at Yunyi, receiving her subtle signal, feeling somewhat embarrassed: ”It depends on your situation.”

Xiao Yuanshan understood his meaning: ”Wait for a moment.”

Then he turned and went into the next office.

After a while, he returned with a slip: ”A shipment arrived today, but not much stock. I reserved three boxes for emergencies, and you can take the remaining three, I’ll get a few more boxes for you later.”

Huo Jingrui replied: ”Thank you very much.”

After exchanging some pleasantries, Xiao Yuanshan accompanied them to the finance department to settle the payment, then directed Huo Jingrui to drive the car to the back door.

Xiao Yuanshan personally helped load the three boxes of Maotai liquor onto the car: ”Brother Huo, when the next batch arrives, I’ll call you.”

Huo Jingrui nodded: ”Alright.”

As they left the department store, Yunyi glanced at Huo Jingrui but quickly looked away.

Huo Jingrui could easily guess her thoughts: ”Are you wondering why I didn’t mention our upcoming wedding feast?”

Yunyi nodded slightly: ”We’ve asked for help today, surely they’ll hear from Qiming later.”

Huo Jingrui turned the car out of the alley: ”If not for Qiming, I wouldn’t know Brother Xiao. I wanted to mention the wedding, but we’re soon moving away; meeting again may be difficult.”

Yunyi instantly understood his reasoning; they’ll be leaving Zeyang County soon, and mentioning it would obligate them to give a wedding gift, which wouldn’t be appropriate.

Huo Jingrui saw she understood: ”Next time we come to pick up the liquor, I’ll treat him to a nice meal.”

As they chatted, the car left the town.

Huo Jingrui cleared his throat: ”I plan to go back to Beijing soon.”

Yunyi turned to look at him: ”Is something up?”

Huo Jingrui gently said: ”You’ve been acquainted with the Ye Family; I can’t just whisk you away quietly, it’s better to visit personally.”
