Zhang Wenjuan walked around the cafeteria and didn’t see Ye Wenhui, so she knew that she must have gone to Yunyi’s place and inexplicably wanted to explode in anger.

Seeing Qiao Wenyu, Zheng Xuewen, and Wei Zijia were also not there, she felt even more unbalanced inside.

Not knowing what she was thinking, she quickly left the cafeteria and headed toward the small courtyard where Yunyi lived.

Yunyi calmly replied, ”It’s about time, let’s finish this game and everyone can start making dough to prepare dumplings. Once we’re done, it’ll be past midnight, and we can set off firecrackers just in time to cook the dumplings.”

At the mention of dumplings, everyone’s spirits lifted.

Huo Jingrui took care of the dough, while Yunyi added some sesame oil to the prepped filling and handed it to Ye Wenhui and Wei Zijia to mix further.

Ye Wenhui had lamb filling, and Wei Zijia had pork filling: ”This filling smells really good.”

Huo Jingrui worked fast; after kneading the dough, he left it to rest.

He called Zheng Xuewen and Qiao Wenyu to place the firecrackers in the yard, ready to light them at the right time.

While they were bustling around the yard, the dough was ready.

Qiao Wenyu and Zheng Xuewen had never made dumplings at home; seeing Huo Jingrui not only rolling the skins but also making them, they admired him and gave him a thumbs up: ”You’re awesome, impressive.”

Goodness, seeing their expressions made Huo Jingrui even more smug, so he demonstrated rolling three skins at once, leaving Yunyi amazed: ”When did you learn this skill?”

Huo Jingrui laughed: ”During my time in the army.”

Qiao Wenyu moved closer to Huo Jingrui: ”Big Brother Huo, you’re good with both brains and brawn; you’ve already made us feel inferior, and now you’re adding cooking to the mix, what are we supposed to do?”

Huo Jingrui looked at him with a half-smile: ”What are you trying to say?”

Qiao Wenyu stepped back: ”Can you leave us a way to survive?”

Everyone laughed at his antics.

Then, while making dumplings, Qiao Wenyu tried to push Wei Zijia’s stray hair back, but ended up smearing dough all over her face, which escalated into a playful skirmish; a small spoonful of dry flour turned into a weapon.

Once everyone cleaned up, it was already midnight, the sound of firecrackers went off, and the dumplings went into the pot.

As soon as the dumplings were cooked, Zheng Xuewen, who couldn’t wait any longer, gobbled one down and immediately gave Yunyi a thumbs up and joined Qiao Wenyu in calling out: ”Big Brother Huo, you’re going to eat well from now on.”
