Rebirth: The Courtyard Bride Is Cool and Radiant

Chapter 418: Chapter 418 It Feels Good to Be Remembered

He was in such a hurry to deliver the furniture because space at his workshop was really limited. Due to the cold weather, lacquering had to be done indoors. Consequently, he needed to deliver these finished pieces first to make room for the sanded furniture to be brought inside for lacquering.

After they helped move the delivered furniture into the house and arrange it in the designated spots, the carpenter, beaming, only left after receiving the final payment for these pieces.

Huo Jingrui pulled Yunyi along and asked, ”What do you think? Do you like them?”

Yunyi reached out and ran her hand over the furniture. ”Not bad. The carpenter’s craftsmanship is indeed very good.”

Seeing Yunyi pleased, Huo Jingrui asked, ”Yiyi, have you ever thought about transferring to the county town?”

Yunyi thought of Yuan Yuxun and his grandson, then shook her head. ”Forget it. I’ve just moved, so I’m not considering it for now.”

Although Huo Jingrui was slightly disappointed, he knew he couldn’t force the issue.

They didn’t linger, as Huo Jingrui had to get to work.

Yunyi pointed to the basket Huo Jingrui had carried over. ”This is all food I brought for you. Take it out; I need the basket back.”

Huo Jingrui had already smelled the delicious aroma from the basket. ”It feels really good to be cared for.”

Yunyi instructed him, ”Alright, if you dawdle any longer, you’ll be late. Hurry up and take everything out.”

Huo Jingrui quickly sprang into action. ”Yes, Ma’am!”

His current fawning behavior would certainly make his family and comrades’ jaws drop if they saw it. He, who was usually so stern, never imagined he would act like this in front of the girl he liked.

Yunyi also hadn’t expected him to be so playful around her. What would his expression be if he remembered their past one day?

After putting the food away, Huo Jingrui carried the empty basket and walked Yunyi towards the factory.

He really wanted to reach out and take her hand, but this was the family residential compound, and there were too many prying eyes.

At the factory entrance, wary of a repeat of the morning’s incident, Huo Jingrui made a point of introducing Yunyi to the personnel in the guardroom. ”If my fiancée comes over in the future, just let her in to find me directly.”

The guard didn’t dare stare at Yunyi, especially after his tactless remarks that morning. ”Vice Factory Director Huo, I understand,” he responded.

Then, he apologized to Yunyi. ”I’m truly sorry about this morning. I didn’t know you were Vice Factory Director Huo’s fiancée.”

Yunyi wasn’t angry with the guard. After all, he was just following orders. Although some of his words had been unpleasant, Yunyi considered him a responsible comrade. Besides, he had helped Huo Jingrui fend off unwanted attention.

As Huo Jingrui led her into the office building, the smile never left his face.

It didn’t take long for news of Vice Factory Director Huo’s fiancée’s arrival to spread throughout the factory.

Huo Jingrui took Yunyi to his office and handed her a special identification document. ”Keep this safe. In case of an emergency, you can request assistance from the county’s Armed Forces Department.”

Yunyi accepted the document, recognizing the official seal on it. She glanced at Huo Jingrui. This guy is quite shrewd, isn’t he? Isn’t this just a blatant way for him to help me curry favor with the higher-ups?

But she liked it.

She folded the document neatly, put it in her pants pocket, and then quickly transferred it to her interdimensional space. After all, that was the safest place.

Thinking about yesterday’s incident at the logging camp, and also to make it easier for Huo Jingrui to provide her with an alibi in the future, she voiced her idea. ”I heard there’s a second-hand clothing store in the county town. I’d like to go check it out.”

Huo Jingrui naturally understood Yunyi’s intention. ”Then I’ll go with you in a bit.”

Yunyi quickly refused, ”No need. You focus on your work. I’ll go take a look later. If I find something suitable, I’ll buy it. If not, I’ll just take the bus back.”

This was just an excuse. She also wanted to broach the subject with Huo Jingrui herself, so he wouldn’t be upset if someone else mentioned it first.

Huo Jingrui wouldn’t hear of it and insisted on accompanying her.

However, just then, someone came looking for him. Seeing that she had said all she needed to, Yunyi seized the opportunity to slip away.
