Rebirth: The Courtyard Bride Is Cool and Radiant

Chapter 379: Chapter 379: Refusing to Return to the Ye Family’s Life

After Xia Dongxue finished speaking, everyone stared at Yunyi, waiting for her to state her position.

Yunyi looked up and met Xia Dongxue’s eyes. ”No matter why you lost me back then, the fact remains you did lose me. If I hadn’t met my adoptive parents, whether I could have survived is questionable.

I can understand you had your difficulties. Since you’ve proven in every way that I am the daughter of the Ye Family, I acknowledge this kinship. However, I will not return to the Ye Family, nor will I change my surname.”

When Yunyi said this, everyone in the room became anxious, especially Ye Bingyu and Xia Dongxue; they thought Yunyi was still unwilling to forgive them.

Xia Dongxue pleaded anxiously, ”Yunyi, it’s all Mom’s fault. Can you forgive Mom?”

Ye Bingyu also wanted to speak, but Yunyi raised her hand to stop him. ”It’s not that I haven’t forgiven you. After all, as you said, you were schemed against back then, so I don’t blame you.

As I just said, I acknowledge the Ye family members since you gave me life, but I won’t return to the Ye Family to live. Let’s just interact as relatives.”

Xia Dongxue’s eyes were red, and her voice trembled. ”Why?”

This was what everyone wanted to know, and all eyes in the room were on Yunyi.

Yunyi considered her words before speaking. ”The Chu Family is simple. My adoptive parents only have me as their child, and I like a simple life...”

She had just reached this point when Xia Dongxue hurriedly interjected, ”Yunyi, our home is also very simple. Grandpa divided the family property early on, so there are no complicated interpersonal relationships at home. Your eldest and second brothers are usually busy and rarely at home. Only your younger brother, Ye Wenyang, is here. We all hope you will come home.”

Yunyi didn’t retort, quietly waiting for her to finish before continuing, ”I can understand your current feelings. But have you considered that our lifestyles and living environments are inherently different? Furthermore, the girl you raised is actually the daughter of another branch of the Ye Family. If I go back, I can’t avoid interacting with her. If we have disagreements, how will you handle it?”

Without waiting for them to speak, Yunyi went on, ”Don’t tell me you’ll definitely handle it fairly. Humans are emotional creatures. I’m friends with Sister Wenhui, and I’ve heard quite a bit about the Ye Family from her.

I also know a little about your adoptive daughter, Ye Wenyue. The love you have for her won’t just vanish overnight. But if I have to watch you all living together so lovingly, to be honest, I might not be able to stay calm.

Moreover, I don’t want to face the surrounding gossip and discrimination, as comparisons between me and your adoptive daughter are inevitable. You may say I’m overthinking it, but I can’t help but consider these things. I particularly dislike trouble, so I don’t wish to return to the Ye Family to live. Please try to understand.”

How could Xia Dongxue agree? ”Yunyi, Wenyue has a good disposition; she’s a very sensible child. She already feels guilty for taking your place. She definitely wouldn’t...”

She caught herself mid-sentence, realizing her blunder. At that moment, the expressions of everyone in the room turned quite ugly.

They all thought simultaneously, It’s over.

Yunyi was already reluctant to return to the Ye Family. She feared the various troubles that might arise and was worried that if disagreements occurred, they wouldn’t be able to treat her fairly. Xia Dongxue, by immediately speaking up for Wenyue, had just perfectly demonstrated the very thing Yunyi was wary of.

For a moment, the atmosphere in the room was extremely awkward.

Yunyi shrugged, saying with a smile, ”See? This is exactly what I was worried about. So, please respect my choice.”
