Rebirth: The Courtyard Bride Is Cool and Radiant

Chapter 360: Chapter 360 What Crazy Thing Are You Doing Now

Zhang Xueyan, who had been brought back to Beijing by her uncle, was already in a bad mood. When she woke up, her face felt very uncomfortable.

She reached out to touch her face. To her dismay, she discovered many small pimples, instantly dispelling her morning grumpiness. Without even bothering to put on her shoes, she ran to the vanity table.

When she saw her face, she let out a piercing scream.

The scream almost caused Luo Yifen, who was in the kitchen preparing breakfast, to drop the bowl in her hand. She came out and shouted toward her daughter’s room, ”What are you going crazy about now?”

She was starting to get annoyed with her daughter, who had been nothing but trouble since returning from the Northwest.

Zhang Xueyan was now too preoccupied to listen to what her mother was saying. ”My face, my face! Oh, my face!” she cried.

Luo Yifen initially hadn’t wanted to pay attention to her daughter’s antics, but sensing the panic in her voice, she felt something was amiss. Without even setting down the bowl, she hurried over.

The door to Zhang Xueyan’s room was still bolted from the inside. In her urgency, Luo Yifen banged on it. ”Yanzi, open the door! What’s wrong with you?”

Staring at her own face, Zhang Xueyan had forgotten to open the door and just kept muttering, ”How could this happen? How could this happen?”

Luo Yifen grew truly anxious, realizing something was definitely wrong. She quickly called out to her son, who was exercising downstairs, ”Zi’an, go get your dad! Tell him to come back quickly!”

Zhang Zi’an looked up at his mother on the balcony. ”Dad went to Uncle’s place. He’s probably on his way back now.”

Seeing her son hadn’t moved, she urged, ”I told you to go, so go! Hurry up!”

Zhang Zi’an had no choice but to frown and head toward his uncle’s house. He hadn’t gone far when he saw his father approaching.

He stood where he was and yelled, ”Dad, hurry! Mom told me to call you home.”

Zhang Weigang was already in a foul mood. He had wanted to ask his elder brother-in-law if he could pull some strings for his daughter again, but he had ended up getting a scolding instead.

Luo Yihai had initially thought it wasn’t a major issue. He planned to have her stay home for a while; once the scandal died down, he would help her find acting work again. With his connections, she wouldn’t lack roles.

However, somehow, word about his niece’s situation had spread back to the Capital. His own superiors had learned about it and had given him a severe reprimand, causing him to lose a great deal of face.

He was simmering with anger and had nowhere to vent it. And just then, his brother-in-law, Zhang Weigang, showed up.

Zhang Weigang walked over to his son and asked in a low voice, ”What couldn’t wait until I got home? Why did you have to come all this way?”

Zhang Zi’an shook his head. ”I’m not sure. Mom called me from the balcony to come find you. But while I was exercising downstairs earlier, I thought I heard my sister scream. I might have misheard.”

The mention of his daughter only intensified Zhang Weigang’s irritation.

From what his elder brother-in-law had implied, it was clear: not only could she not make a comeback anytime soon, but she might also have to wait until after the New Year for an opportunity. He had been told to tell Yanzi to keep a low profile lately, to prevent the incident in the Northwest from being dredged up again.

As soon as the father and son entered the house, they saw Luo Yifen holding Zhang Xueyan and comforting her. ”Don’t be afraid, don’t be afraid. Mom will take you to the hospital right away. It must be because you’ve been under too much stress these past few days that this happened.”

The father and son hurried over. ”What happened?”

The moment Zhang Xueyan looked up, both men were startled and blurted out in unison, ”What on earth happened?”

Zhang Xueyan’s face was now streaked with tears. ”I don’t know! I just woke up like this. It’s so itchy!”

As she spoke, she moved to scratch her face. This startled Luo Yifen, who immediately let go of her embrace and grabbed her daughter’s hand. ”Don’t scratch, don’t scratch! We’ll go to the hospital right now. It’ll be okay.”

The family rushed to the hospital in a panic, completely forgetting about the pot on the kitchen stove.
