Rebirth: The Courtyard Bride Is Cool and Radiant

Chapter 320: Chapter 320 Do You Need to Report to the Police?

When Yunyi arrived at the operating room, the lights had just been turned off.

Geng Jiangshan, the deputy chief of the Public Security Team, saw Yunyi return and said, ”Doctor Chu, you’re back.”

Noticing the clothes in Yunyi’s hands, he yelled toward Zhang Chunshan, who was squatting in a corner not far away, ”Zhang Chunshan, Doctor Chu bought these clothes for your wife. I’ll notify the finance department to deduct the cost from your salary.”

You simply couldn’t reason with such a person.

Zhang Chunshan, upon hearing this, glanced at Yunyi with a hostile look, his face clearly saying, ’Mind your own business.’

Yunyi hadn’t initially intended to make an issue of it, but since Geng Jiangshan had spoken up, she certainly wasn’t one to be unappreciative of the support.

Just then, the door to the operating room opened, and Guo Shuiyu was wheeled out.

Everyone crowded around, asking, ”Doctor, how is she?”

The doctor, his face stern, asked, ”Who is the patient’s family member?”

Zhang Chunshan spoke up, ”I am.”

The doctor looked up at him. ”The patient is severely malnourished and has countless external injuries. Were you aware of her condition?”

Zhang Chunshan, not expecting this question, nodded awkwardly, looking uncomfortable. ”Can she be moved to a ward now?”

Seeing his attitude, the doctor asked directly, ”Should we report this to the police?”

Startled, Zhang Chunshan forgot his embarrassment and anger, quickly waving his hands. ”No need, no need at all.”

Once they were back in the ward, Yunyi asked all the male comrades to step out. She then borrowed a basin from the older lady in the next room. Using items she had gathered from the Shen Family, Yunyi found a clean towel, helped clean Guo Shuiyu, and changed her clothes.

After cleaning the basin, she returned it to the older lady next door, placing a few candies inside as well. This delighted the woman. ”Sister, you’re truly considerate.”

Yunyi had done all she could; the rest was up to Guo Shuiyu’s own fate. She helped partly because they were fellow women, and partly because Guo Shuiyu was Guo Anyi’s aunt—an aunt who, despite not being able to fully protect her nephew, genuinely doted on him.

After leaving the ward, she saw Geng Jiangshan approaching and asked, ”Deputy Chief Geng, have you finished with your business?”

Geng Jiangshan’s expression was quite grim. ”That bastard Zhang Chunshan actually ran off,” he said. ”I’m afraid we’ll have to trouble you to look after Guo Shuiyu tonight. We’re going back to find him now and will have Zhang Family Village send someone over.”

He was furious at that moment, wishing he could catch Zhang Chunshan and give him a thorough beating. The man had vanished after only a brief moment of inattention.

Yun Yiyi liked the sound of this and readily agreed, ”Alright. Once someone from Zhang Family Village arrives tomorrow, I’ll head back.”

Without lingering, Geng Jiangshan handed Yunyi the lunchbox he had brought from the car and the Grain Coupons from his pocket. ”You can use these for now. As for the things you bought for Zhang Chunshan’s wife, I’ll have the finance department deduct the cost from Zhang Chunshan’s wages later.”

Yunyi reached out and accepted the items. ”Deputy Chief Geng, I’ll take these then. I’ll settle the account with you later.”

Since it was all going to be deducted from Zhang Chunshan’s wages anyway, there was no need for excessive politeness.

After Geng Jiangshan left, Yunyi returned to the ward and turned to the family member attending to a patient in the next bed. ”Big Sister, could I ask you for a favor?”

The older lady, who had lent Yunyi the basin and received a few candies in return, had a good impression of her. ”Sister, don’t worry about it being a bother. Just tell me what you need. If I can help, I definitely will.”

Yunyi pointed to the still-unconscious Guo Shuiyu. ”Big Sister, her family can’t make it here until tomorrow, so I’m staying today to take care of her. I need to step out for a bit, but I’m worried she might wake up with no one around. I was hoping you could help keep an eye on her for me. I’ll be back as quickly as I can.”
