Ye Wenhui had long since lost any desire to attend to Ye Wenjuan, that disgusting person. ”Fine,” she said. ”I’m fairly familiar with the county town; I’ll go with you.” She didn’t care what Ye Wenjuan thought at all.

Seeing her daughter nod in agreement, Shi Jingfang turned to Ye Wenjuan. ”You rest here. I’m going to find your attending doctor to learn about your condition, and I also need to inform your parents.”

Shi Jingfang asked about some other details before leaving the doctor’s office. ”Let’s find a place to call your little uncle first.”

Ye Wenhui looked at her mother. ”My little uncle is at work. He could get time off to come here, but it would be inconvenient for him to take care of Ye Wenjuan.”

Shi Jingfang glanced at her daughter. ”We are only responsible for informing them. How they arrange things is their business.”

She knew very well that if she called Zhang Baoxiang, her good sister-in-law might just dump Ye Wenjuan’s matter onto her, the aunt.

After finding a place, she handed the phone number to the staff inside, received a token, and went to the booth. As the call connected, she heard from the other end, ”Hello, this is the Water Resources Bureau. May I ask whom to transfer your call to?”

Shi Jingfang spoke up, ”Please transfer me to the Supervision Brigade.”

A female voice came from the other end, ”One moment, please.”

Someone on the phone picked up. ”Supervision Brigade, whom are you looking for?”

Shi Jingfang spoke up, ”Please find Comrade Ye Bingkun for me. I’m his second sister-in-law.”

From the other end of the phone, someone called out, ”Bingkun, there’s a phone call for you, your second sister-in-law.”

Footsteps could be heard approaching. ”Hello, Second Sister-in-law.”

”Bingkun, I’m on a business trip to Ji Province and came by to visit the sisters. I only found out after arriving that Wenjuan had an accident and was hospitalized.”

As soon as she mentioned this, Ye Bingkun urgently asked, ”What happened?”

”Wenhui came with her yesterday to help. However, I can’t get away from my work unit. I’m afraid Wenhui alone, being just a young girl, might not be able to look after her properly, especially since Wenjuan has a more robust build.”

Ye Bingkun frowned and asked, ”Didn’t the Agricultural Reclamation Group say anything?”

”I went to the leaders of the Agricultural Reclamation Group last night, and they said they would definitely send someone to take care of her. But since the child has suffered such a serious injury, she definitely needs her parents’ care the most right now. You two should discuss it amongst yourselves.”

Ye Bingkun was a smart man. He also knew how well Shi Jingfang understood her own daughter’s temperament. He probably figured that his second sister-in-law didn’t want Wenhui to keep waiting on Ye Wenjuan, which is why she had made this call.

After Shi Jingfang hung up the phone, she said to her daughter, ”Don’t worry. Your little uncle is a smart man. I suspect he’ll have your little aunt packed and sent over by today.”
