Rebirth: The Courtyard Bride Is Cool and Radiant

Chapter 244: Chapter 244 Getting Involved Is Not Good for You

Reaching this point, he paused briefly, then continued indignantly, ”If it were any other traditional Chinese medicine family in the country, I could still accept it, though I would despise their actions. But I’m afraid they might sell the Yuan Family’s secret formulas at a high price to those abroad who have long coveted them. If that were to happen, I fear I’d be too ashamed to face the Yuan Family ancestors. Therefore, these items can no longer be stored with me.”

Yunyi was somewhat puzzled. ”How did you bring these things with you when you came here?”

Hearing Yunyi’s question, Yuan Yuxun answered honestly, ”These items were sent to me by my family through various connections, but somehow, word got out.”

Yunyi understood the situation and naturally didn’t want to pry into their family matters. After careful consideration, she said, ”I am indeed interested in these formulas. How about this?”

As she finished speaking, Yuan Yuxun looked up. Yunyi then cleared her throat slightly and continued, ”These formulas can be temporarily kept with me. As corresponding remuneration, I can make a copy. Moreover, if needed in the future, I can use these formulas for profit, and the Yuan Family must not obstruct or make any excuses.

”Of course, I won’t take them for nothing,” she added. ”I can ensure your and your grandson’s safety for two years. Do you agree?”

Yuan Yuxun hadn’t expected Yunyi to make such a promise. He was penniless and had intended to use these formulas to repay her for saving his grandson, which would also have indirectly helped preserve them. Now that he had received such an assurance, how could he refuse? ”The person behind Qiao Yuxiang is not simple. Getting involved won’t be good for you.”

A knowing smile touched the corners of Yunyi’s lips. ”Since I dared to say it, I won’t put myself in danger. Rest assured.”

Seeing the confidence on her face and thinking of his grandson’s safety, he said, ”Alright, I agree. I will write you a certificate, just in case.”

Yunyi had been waiting for him to say just that. She turned and took paper and pen from her medical kit. ”It’s best we’re clear on the terms upfront.”

Yuan Yuxun didn’t hesitate. After all, he had lost all hope before, but now he saw a glimmer. He had already planned to give these items away, so why would he go back on his word? In no time, he wrote out a certificate, signed it, then picked open a scab on his hand and pressed a bloody fingerprint onto it.

He handed it to Yunyi. ”Then I’ll be troubling you from now on.”

Yunyi didn’t linger. She passed over the other items she had gathered, ”Keep these safe. Don’t let anyone see them.”

Then, she took some homemade medicines from her medical kit. ”I’ve labeled all of them. Hide them well in case of need.”

After giving these instructions, Yunyi checked Yuan Zining’s pulse again. ”Tomorrow morning, give him another dose of medicine. I’ll find time to come over and check on him again.”

Remembering something as she packed, she said, ”I’m about to leave Songling Corps and transfer to Hua’an Farm Reclamation. But don’t worry, I’ll visit often to check on you.

”As for Qiao Yuxiang,” she continued, ”I’ll ensure she doesn’t get a chance to bother you for a while. And regarding the person behind her, I’ll do my best to find them.”

She didn’t make any absolute promises. After all, there’s always someone better out there, and she would simply do her best.

Hearing this, Yuan Yuxun felt conflicted. Naturally, he wanted to find those scoundrels and eliminate them, but he also feared Yunyi wouldn’t be a match for them and would be innocently dragged into it.

Yunyi understood his concerns. ”Don’t worry, I cherish my life. I won’t take risks unless I’m sure of myself.”

Yuan Yuxun bowed deeply to Yunyi. ”Words cannot express such great kindness. My grandson and I will forever remember this debt of gratitude.”
