”Forget it. The worst that can happen is that they kill me.” After thinking for a long time without any clue, Rorschach decided to put the issue aside for the time being.

For him, being able to survive the first hurdle was equivalent to saving his life, and no matter how long he lived afterwards, it would be a waste of time.

If that’s the case, why think so much?
”By the way, Brother Lindsay, you seem to know the purpose of that guy’s visit to Mountain Capital this time?” Rorschach’s attention was drawn back to the present.

”I don’t know, but I can roughly guess.” Lindsay said in a deep tone, shaking his head, ”Those two families would not do anything that would lose money... I originally thought it was a bit strange to fish in such a high-profile manner, but after seeing that guy just now, I am basically sure what is going on.”

After listening to this, Rorschach sorted out his thoughts and said, ”So you’re saying that the many sacrifices that the evil god’s remnants have performed over the years have actually been tacitly approved by the three empires and the major bloodline families?”

“It’s more than just a default.”

Lindsay shook his head, not caring at all that the Sphinx family he was from was one of the people he was talking about. ”The fact that that guy showed up here just now means that he is here to reap the bloody feast. This must be an agreement reached with them by one of the two families, or even both of them at the same time.”

“Whatever the evil god’s remnants want, they want. Whatever the evil god’s remnants don’t want, they also want. Even… the evil god’s remnants themselves are their targets!”

Lindsay directly exposed the cover-up and told the truth.

Although Rorschach was mentally prepared for this answer, when Lindsay gave the exact result, he still felt a chill in his heart.

Are the remnants of the evil god cruel? Yes, they are.

But in the eyes of the three empires and the major blood families, they are just a knife, a leeks-cutting knife with the attribute of absorbing hatred.

As for the ”victims” who died in the chaos caused by the remnants of the evil god, they can be recycled and traded with Jack and other wizard apprentices from the [Gray Tower] in exchange for the benefits needed by each family.

What these wizard apprentices need is ”blood and flesh nourishment”, while what each family needs is life-extending potion, or even a glimmer of hope to become a wizard in the future.

Everyone just gets what they need.

”If all they need is this kind of bloody feast, why don’t they do it themselves? Judging from the skills that guy just showed, ordinary people won’t have the slightest ability to resist them.” Rorschach asked puzzledly.

”There are actually quite a few reasons, I’ll just talk about the two most important ones.”

Lindsay pondered, ”The first reason is that the three empires will not allow them to do this. Perhaps the lives of the civilians are nothing in the eyes of the high-ranking officials of the three empires, but even if they are a group of livestock raised by themselves, who would be willing to let others kill and eat their meat without consent?”

”Although they came from the Gray Tower, their strength is generally between lower gold and middle gold. If they really fall out with the three empires, they will definitely suffer.”

Rorschach: ”But didn’t they come from the Gray Tower? Do the three empires dare to touch them?”

”The situation of the Gray Tower is far more complicated than you think. It is not just a simple organization or a force.”

Lindsay shook his head and said, ”They do have some connections in the Gray Tower, but the three great empires also have something to rely on there. As long as they don’t go too far, they will just have to accept the loss.”

Lindsay explained the reasons so thoroughly that it was not difficult for Rorschach to understand the logic behind it. He also understood why Lindsay seemed not to care much about the threat from the gray-robed man Jack before.

”As for the second reason, it is because the Gray Domain itself has its own special characteristics. Although I don’t know the deeper reasons, neither the wizard apprentices from the Gray Tower nor the three empires themselves dare to wantonly massacre civilians.”
