The Golem Mage

Chapter 339: The Matriarch Hyena Evolution.

This time, Alec made sure that Titan led the attack since he was the only one who had been able to see through the Matriarch Hyena’s scheme and even heavily injure her.

He did this because he remembered a quote that stated, ’With pure power, all schemes are useless.’

However, it was proving difficult to reach the Matriarch Hyena, as the other hyenas had fallen back to protect her.

This also allowed Agnes and the rest of the group to regroup with Alec, Brandon, and Arthur, who were still trying their best to free Pale from the hyenas’ encirclement.

But Despite their efforts, things were not going as they expected.

The Matriarch Hyena’s limb muscles were twitching in apparent pain, yet she still looked at Pale and the other mage with greedy eyes, holding back her evolution.

Pale gritted his teeth as he cut his other second palm this time and used the Ice lance Spell again, but this time it was to create a path through the hyena barricade that was blocking their retreat.

He was feeling the aura emitted by the Matriarch Hyena and he knew it had surpassed the average level of danger and she was becoming more dangerous than ever.

With precision, Pale directed the newly cast Ice Lance Spell towards a specific location, cutting through the ranks of the hyenas blocking them as if they were butter and this was because he discarded using the Ice Lance Spell as an AOE skill.

However, just as Pale finished opening up a part to regroup with Alec and the rest of the group, the Matriarch Hyena moved, determined not to let any of her prey escape.

She lunged for Pale first, but since his both hands were still fresh with blood from cutting them earlier and had not healed yet, he wasn’t able to cast another Mid Tier Spell for protection in time.

So, he decided to cast an Ice Shield Spell with a rebound effect, but this time he re-directed the rebound effect towards his side.

And as the Matriarch Hyena closed in, he asked the other Mage to embrace him from behind.

As The Matriarch Hyena’s claws slammed against the ice shield defense he had created, shattering it almost instantly, with the rebounding effect launching him flying away.

However, the Matriarch Hyena was able to grab hold of the other Mage with her Jaws before he was launched into the air by the rebounding effect.

Since the mage hadn’t held onto Pale tightly enough, the Matriarch Hyena dragged him by his legs before Pale escaped.

As Pale landed, he was immediately surrounded by Alec and the rest of the group on the other side that have been waiting for him.

Although their faces showed anger, they were ignoring Pale for the moment and directing all of their rage towards the Matriarch Hyena, who had just killed the second mage and also devoured its heart.

The moment the hyena swallowed the second heart, it let out a piercing scream as its body started to break down and reconstruct itself almost instantly.

The process seemed torturous, but it was actually going through the breakthrough stage to the Mid Rank Realm.

Even in pain, the Matriarch Hyena’s eyes still showed its greed.

It was clear that the Matriarch Hyena had wanted Pale’s heart to be part of its evolution process, as it had been eyeing Pale’s ice magic from the start.

However, it couldn’t continue delaying its evolution even if it didn’t get to consume Pale’s heart.

Cause if it continued with restricting his evolution, it would face another failed evolution and might never be able to enter the Mid Rank Realms, as it would have exhausted all its potential due to greed.

So, it had to settle for the heart of the second mage since it was running out of time and had to evolve quickly.

But the Matriarch Hyena consuming the second heart was something unexpected even to Alec.

As she was attempting to consume the power of two hearts and evolve with a dual ability, this was something that most beast would be too scared to try, but the Matriarch Hyena seems quite confident.

Alec quickly used his analysis skill on her once again.
