Reborn in the Eighties as a Housewife with a Space

Chapter 2882: Chapter 2880: Adopting a Stray Dog

”Xue’er, those days are behind us. I believe it wouldn’t want to see you so sad in another world. Please stop dwelling in self-blame, okay? We must look ahead, and aim for progress. If we live well, I’m sure it would be pleased too.” Chu Molin never realized Qin Xue had this story in her heart.

If it weren’t for this chance encounter today, would he have remained in the dark about this forever?

This kind of story doesn’t make him happy, but it is an emotional wound for his wife, and he can’t say much about it. After all, because of an accident, he knows about it now, doesn’t he?

”Yes, I know. That’s why I’ve kept it deep in my heart, so it doesn’t see me sad all the time. Otherwise, it wouldn’t find joy in entering a new cycle.” Qin Xue wasn’t sure if it could reincarnate as people say after it died, but she hoped so, thinking as long as it was well, that was enough.

Qin Xue lived with this emotional knot for a long time, while Nangong Beiying and the others thought she had moved on. But she hadn’t; she just didn’t want them to worry, so she kept it from them.

Whenever the night grew quiet, she thought, if she hadn’t taken it downstairs, hadn’t let it get free, would Dodo still be alive? Was it blaming her for not holding onto it, for causing its death?

These thoughts made her feel more and more guilty and unhappy.

But work must be done, friendships maintained. She buried these feelings deep in her heart, keeping these affairs hidden away forever.

Seeing this stray now, she felt as if Dodo had returned, coming back to find her, so she wanted to take it in: ”Chu Molin, can we keep it? Let’s raise it.”

Qin Xue felt a deep pain inside, thinking of that poor little life, the small creature that had accompanied her for a while. She couldn’t bear to let go, but life is this fragile—gone in an instant, and she was powerless to stop it.

That’s also why she was able to immerse herself into work so quickly after joining. She had experienced loss, and slowly learned to let go.

Letting go doesn’t mean forgetting; rather, it means hiding the powerless feelings deep inside.

Regardless, without any particular individual, the world continues turning. One can only cherish oneself more.

Moreover, this is exactly what she wants; during moments like these, she feels there are so many helpless things in the world.

Now, seeing that puppy, she decided to treat it as Dodo, to raise it herself.

”Alright, if you want to raise it, go ahead. Just, isn’t it a problem since you’re pregnant?” Chu Molin wasn’t sure if raising a dog while pregnant was okay, but seeing her desire to do so, he was willing to support her.

He was just worried the dog might affect the child, which would be a regrettable risk.

”It won’t be, I won’t get too close to it. As long as it stays clean, there won’t be any major problems.” Qin Xue knew people in this era didn’t keep dogs as pets, nor were there many vaccines available. Otherwise, she would have taken the puppy for vaccines, avoiding concerns about bacterial infections.

”I see. Alright then, but we’ll have to ask it to see if it wants to stay. If it’s willing to stick around, we’ll keep it.” Chu Molin accepted this answer and was willing to go along, but it depended on whether the little dog wanted to stay with them.

If it didn’t want to, they couldn’t force it to stay, right?
