Peninsula: Director of Public Prosecutions Starts with Daily Intelligence

Secretary Wang put down his glass and said vaguely: “You’ve just arrived at the Eastern Prosecutor’s Office, and there are many things you don’t know.”

“The waters here are very deep, and there are many intricacies.”

“For years, I’ve walked on thin ice, been cautious in my words and actions, and only step by step have I reached my current position.”

“Do you know what I relied on?”

Facing Secretary Wang’s question, Lee Se-hyun quickly answered: “Walking on thin ice.”

“That’s right! It’s like… cough cough, it’s being cautious in words and actions, and being low-key.” Secretary Wang almost choked on his drink.

[Secretary Wang’s negative emotional value +10]

Lee Se-hyun nodded, indicating his full agreement with the propositions of Brother Thin Ice and Brother Low-Key.

Because Secretary Wang was describing himself; being cautious in words and actions and being low-key were synonymous with Lee Se-hyun.

Lee Se-hyun had always been a very low-key person.

The kind who didn’t even leave his name when doing good deeds as a child, at most saying, “I am Lei Feng.”

Doing good deeds without leaving a name! That’s Lee Se-hyun!

Lee Se-hyun raised a glass of water: “Elder Brother Wang! For these few words of wisdom on how to live, I’ll drink to that!”

“As you wish!”

Lee Se-hyun chugged another glass, making Secretary Wang stare in a daze. How many glasses was that?

Secretary Wang could no longer remember, only that he had chugged and chugged, and the table was covered with empty bottles.

He wondered in surprise, was this Lee Se-hyun even human? He had drunk so much yet his expression was as normal, not feeling anything at all?

Lee Se-hyun suddenly asked: “Elder Brother Wang, I hear you have something more to say. Could you elaborate?”

“Has Shixian offended you in any way?”

Lee Se-hyun felt that Secretary Wang was pouring out his grievances to him. Normally, when Chief Prosecutor Cheng went to attend the Federal Conference,

the accompanying person should have been Secretary Wang. But this time, a dark horse appeared out of nowhere.

Chief Prosecutor Cheng took Lee Se-hyun instead.

Didn’t this ruin Secretary Wang’s good opportunity?

This was the Federal Conference! Secretary Wang indicated that he also wanted to go! But he couldn’t.

Secretary Wang pretended to be profound: “Actually, you weren’t the only candidate to accompany Chief Prosecutor Cheng to the Federal Conference this time.”

Uh… it wouldn’t be you too, would it?

Lee Se-hyun thought to himself, it was indeed about the Federal Conference, but he didn’t think Secretary Wang was a petty person.

He wouldn’t hold a grudge against Lee Se-hyun over this matter.

If Secretary Wang really disliked Lee Se-hyun, he wouldn’t have accepted his dinner invitation.

A glint of shrewdness flashed in Secretary Wang’s eyes as he said: “You know Minister Cui, right?”

“This time, Minister Cui was originally supposed to accompany Chief Prosecutor Cheng to the Federal Conference.”

“Unfortunately…”

“Minister Cui?” An archive file appeared in Lee Se-hyun’s mind, and he asked: “Is it Minister Cui of the First Criminal Department?”

Before coming, Lee Se-hyun had already thoroughly understood the basic situation of the Eastern Prosecutor’s Office.

He had a rough idea of the leaders of the main departments, how many factions there were, and a few folk songs.

This Minister Cui was the head of the First Criminal Department and also Chief Prosecutor Cheng’s man, a confidant among confidants.

Compared to Secretary Wang, who was merely a general assistant, Minister Cui was the successor Chief Prosecutor Cheng was grooming.

Normally, this trip to Pretty Country should have been Minister Cui accompanying Chief Prosecutor Cheng.

Then, inexplicably, Lee Se-hyun, the Chief Prosecutor, replaced him.

Secretary Wang thought to himself, either this younger brother in front of him was Chief Prosecutor Cheng’s illegitimate child, or he had an incredibly powerful background and was here for a temporary assignment.

Secretary Wang had also briefly reviewed Lee Se-hyun’s file, which was very ordinary, even somewhat unremarkable.

Born in an orphanage, later adopted by parents in Pretty Country and went to study there, then returned to the country to take university entrance exams.

He successfully passed the Seoul University entrance exam, followed by the judicial exam, and was smoothly assigned to the Seoul Central Prosecutor’s Office.

Moreover, he was in the highly prestigious Strategy Department, under Han Kang-sik, the new star of Strategy Department One.
