Immortality Starts With Investment

Chapter 668: Who Stands at the Immortal Pathʼs End?

”Congratulations, host, gift successfully given…”

”Gift: Dao Charm Pills x10”

”Feedback processing…”

”Detected: Gift caused intense emotional impact on recipient…”

”Triggered critical reward!”

”Feedback: Law Source Pills x100!”

”Law Source Pills: Crafted by Quasi-Immortals, extracting laws from immortal qi, using Enlightenment Tea Tree leaves as carriers. Consumption grants law comprehension, boosts law realm, speeds cultivation for a week.”

Ye Chen smiled. Lan Nuo was a gem. Even Dao Charm Pills triggered a critical, yielding surprising rewards. He leaned down, whispering, ”Fairy Lan, your lips look dry. Let me help…”

Her face flushed, she closed her eyes, tiptoeing to ease his aid.

…

After a reluctant, lingering parting.

”Fairy Lan, Iʼm heading back to seclude!” Ye Chen said.

She nodded, reluctant. ”Alright, but… I might not wait until my potentialʼs exhausted to have kids. Soonerʼs fine. Just donʼt tell anyone…”

Ye Chen grinned. Keeping it secret felt like a youthful school romance. He nodded, promising silence. Lan Nuo frowned, pondering what to say outside. Claim she beat him?

Too damaging to Ye Chen—she wouldnʼt. A draw was good. His prowess made a tie a mark of strength. But knowing their gap, she felt shy. She kissed him again, whispering, ”Can we say we tied?”

Seeing her desire to show off yet bashful, Ye Chen chuckled. Fame meant nothing to him. He waved grandly, ”A tieʼs not enough—say you won!”

If you spot this tale on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.

She shook her head. ”Too much, itʼll raise suspicions. If challenged, Iʼm confident, but I canʼt crush foes like you. Itʼd invite scrutiny…”

She was serious about shining publicly, analyzing pros and cons.

Ye Chen smiled. Sheʼd brought him so much—time to give her the ultimate show-off moment.

”Hereʼs the plan: say nothing, stand there, leave the rest to me!”

She paused, recalling his cool, dazzling first impression. Her golden chariot mimicked his. If he said heʼd handle it, he would! She nodded earnestly. Excited heʼd boost her prestige again, she helped ”moisten” his lips once more. Finally, it ended. As her flush faded, her dreamy gaze turned cold as usual.

Ye Chen was ready, waving to dismantle the array.

…

The crowd in Lan Clanʼs Immortal City grew, eagerly awaiting the battleʼs outcome. But with time dragging, most busied themselves in the city, waiting.

”Boom, boom, boom…”

Chatting about the pricey Lan Clan immortal beef—one top-grade spirit stone for a paper-thin slice—cultivators jolted at the skyʼs rumble, eyes wide, looking up.

Who won? Did the Heavenly Emperorʼs heir edge out, or was it a tie? Lan Nuo winning? Too unlikely. Peering up, they frowned. Both stood on the sky battlefield, auras steady, no clear victor. A tie?

As confusion spread, Ye Chen gazed at Lan Nuo intently. Ears perked, the crowd hoped for battle details. But Ye Chen, after a long stare, sighed. He summoned his chariot, sat, and without a word, sped out of the city. His abrupt exit stunned the crowd.

No pleasantries? What happened? Was he unhappy with a tie? Or did he secretly lose? What was going on? Curiosity clawed at them, gazes shifting to Lan Nuo. Did she really best him?

Lan Nuo, aloof, watched Ye Chen leave, shock and realization stirring within. So it could be done like this? Silent, saying nothing yet everything. Letting others guess was more effective than speaking, unquestionable.

In showing off, Ye Chen was leagues ahead. She had much to learn! Gazing at his departing figure, she felt reluctant. She thought it was over. But as Ye Chenʼs figure nearly vanished, a languid sigh echoed across the land…

”At the Immortal Pathʼs end, who stands supreme… upon seeing Lan Nuo…”

His words reached all ears. Faces changed.

”At the Immortal Pathʼs end, who stands supreme?”—bold beyond measure.

Who was that peak? Then, ”Upon seeing Lan Nuo…” Unfinished, what did he mean? Was Lan Nuo his equal in conquest? Or the true peak? Curiosity surged—what happened in there? Did Lan Nuo gain the upper hand? Why else would he sigh so?

He wasnʼt heading to the Immortal Path but to the Great Yan Continent. He was leaving. Prodigies lingered in the Immortal Path, yet he, after a short stay, departed? Was he struck down by this battle? Did Lan Nuo shake him so much heʼd abandon the Immortal Path?

All eyes locked on Lan Nuo. Her body trembled at his final words…
