The Spell's Range Covers the Entire Territory of China? Hand It Over to the Nation

9: Chapter 9: The Conservatives’ Questions and Ryuichi’s Decision!”Wait!”

A voice suddenly rang out, interrupting what Su Yun was about to say.

The temperature in the meeting room dropped instantly, as if a basin of liquid nitrogen had been splashed over it.

Everyone’s gaze shifted from Su Yun to the man on the left side of the conference table who had remained silent until now.

The speaker was around fifty years old, with two gold stars on his shoulders. Unlike the combat commanders around him who exuded an air of slaughter, he wore rimless glasses and had his hair combed meticulously, looking more like an academic professor.

The Director of the Strategic Staff Department, Zhou Weimin.

Long Yi frowned and asked in a deep voice, ”Old Zhou, what do you have to say?”

Zhou Weimin pushed up his glasses and said:

”Chief, I understand your feelings, and I see the urgency on the front lines as well.”

”But as the head of the Strategic Staff Department, I must be responsible for the feasibility and consequences of every command. Emotion cannot replace reason. Comrade Su Yun’s patriotic passion is worthy of recognition, but this is a war of national destiny; there is no room for taking things for granted.”

As he spoke, he tapped the touch screen in front of him, and a detailed data report was projected into the air.

”According to the records in the National Awakener Database, the Shaman class’s F-rank skill ’Mud Swamp Totem’ works by injecting Earth Element spiritual power to forcibly change the soil structure at a physical level. It causes water content to reach instant saturation and the viscosity index to increase exponentially, thereby forming a semi-liquid asthenosphere.”

”To put it simply, it turns flat ground into a mud pit.”

”Comrade Su Yun said just now that his talent might cause the skill to mutate. Let’s set aside the result of the mutation for a moment; based on the fact that Comrade Su Yun’s two previous skill releases expanded the range to the entire territory, that is precisely the greatest risk point!”

At this point, Zhou Weimin’s voice suddenly rose:

”The terrain of Luofeng Slope is complex. Our Seventh Army Group has deployed not only light infantry there, but also two full heavy armored brigades! That’s over a hundred main battle tanks and infantry fighting vehicles, each weighing dozens of tons!”

”If a large-scale swamp is created at a physical level, those high-speed charging exotic beasts will indeed be hindered, but what about our own iron torrent? Once tanks sink into the mud, they become sitting ducks! Not to mention the subsequent heavy truck transport convoys loaded with ammunition and supplies. This isn’t blocking the enemy; this is clearly drawing a prison for ourselves and crippling our own strength!”

Among the generals in the meeting room who were originally boiling with passion, many now showed hesitation.

It was true.

War was not child’s play; one couldn’t just rush forward on a whim. If the battlefield turned into a swamp without distinguishing between friend and foe, then before the exotic beasts could bite them to death, their own people would have sunk in and suffocated miserably.

Zhou Weimin didn’t give everyone a chance to breathe and continued to throw out a second, more fatal problem:

”This is only a tactical disaster for a local battlefield. If Comrade Su Yun’s talent also takes effect during this skill release, then—”

He pulled up a map of Longxia Country’s transportation network, crisscrossed with red lines.

”This means that once the skill is activated, not just the border, but even our Jingxi Base, the highways across the country where cars are driving, the airport runways where planes take off and land, and urban houses and streets could all experience geological anomalies because of this skill release.”

”By then, before the front line is even won, the rear will be paralyzed by sudden geological changes. Tens of millions of people will be displaced, and the entire nation’s functioning will grind to a halt. Who can bear this responsibility?”

After finishing, Zhou Weimin closed his folder and stood up straight: ”Therefore, I resolutely oppose the rash use of such uncontrollable strategic-level means before rigorous safety testing. Even if we lose, we must lose clearly; we cannot die in the chaos created by our own people.”

Silence filled the hall.
