Venerated Venomous Consort

Rong Che shook his head, ”It’s alright. I can just wipe it.” Then he took a white handkerchief to wipe the stain from his clothes. The location of the stain was in an odd position so it was not convenient for him to twist his body to wipe it off.

”Let me do it.” Gu Xijiu took his handkerchief over and tried to wipe it for him.

When she was rubbing it a few times, there was a sudden slapping sound from across, as if someone was slapping chopsticks on the table.

The sound was loud and the quiet hall became even quieter, to the point that they could hear the wind blowing through the dining hall.

The sound was issued from Di Fuyi’s table. Gu Xijiu also felt that the atmosphere was not right. When she raised her head and looked over to that table, she saw the pair of black pupils of Di Fuyi looking back at her too.

Her heart was beating slightly faster.

Di Fuyi was wearing a mask so Gu Xijiu could not see what his facial expression was but she could slightly feel the coercion in his eyes.

The lady who was serving him at the sides had knelt down on the floor and kowtowed to apologize.

As it was still in the early of spring and the palace was built beside a lake, the hall was somehow chilled. Even though there were hundreds of people in the hall, it did not raise the temperature at all.

Other people might not be aware but Gu Xijiu was very sensitive to low temperatures. Therefore when the hall suddenly became warm, she surprisingly looked around the hall and suspected that there were a few heaters added to the hall…

Emperor Xuan did not expect to see the servant making such a big mistake. He immediately scolded the servant, frightening her even more.

Di Fuyi did not say anything but only asked to change servants.

Emperor Xuan immediately ordered the servant to leave. Fortunately, he had prepared two servants for Di Fuyi, thus he had another backup servant for him. When he was about to call the backup servant, Di Fuyi looked at Gu Xijiu and said, ”Miss Gu, can you come over?”

Gu Xijiu did not expect that he would call her. She was stunned, ”What?”

”I noticed that you are quite skillful at pouring the wine. Why don’t you come and replace the servant?” Di Fuyi lightly smiled while looking at her.

Gu Xijiu frowned a little.

This request didn’t seem too demanding.

He had a very special status. The servants who poured wine for him were at least officers with a grade five and above. Sometimes even the princesses grab the opportunity to stay beside him and serve him. It was considered an honor if they had the chance to pour wine for him.

Thus when he asked her to go over, she could not claim that it was humiliating her.

Countless pairs of eyes were looking over. There was surprise, envy and some were even wondering…

Gu Xijiu thought for a while. This guy was going to put her into the Dark Forest thus it could be said that her fate was in his hands. If she angered him, he might put her at the sixth hill and she would have regretted not treating him well.

Therefore, although Gu Xijiu was not willing to go, she could not reject the request. When she stood up to go over, Yun Qingluo who was sitting not far away arose too, ”Celestial Master Zuo, let me do it. I am very good at pouring wine and I know 18 different ways to pour it. Could you give me a chance to show you?”

When she was about to walk over, Di Fuyi stopped her, ”Pouring wine is for drinking, not for performing. I don’t need to know so many ways to pour wine. You don’t have to come.” Then he stared at Gu Xijiu, ”Are you coming?”

Gu Xijiu was speechless.

This guy was so stubborn! It seemed like he would not let her go if she did not pour wine for him.
