Be Gentle, My Master

Catching a glimpse of the fleeting discomfort in Mu Xiaojiu’s eyes, Baili Xia felt a sudden softness in her chest, and inexplicably a bit of sweetness.

“Actually… under those circumstances, if it were any other man, he definitely would have fallen.”

She spoke softly, and though it was to salvage his pride, it was also the truth.

Let a man have a woman sleep on his legs for a night and see if he still stands steady when he gets up?

After all, he didn’t give himself any time to adjust, wanting to leave, he stood up immediately to go.

Mu Xiaojiu wasn’t oblivious to the fact that she was giving him a way to save face.

He humphed and deliberately put on a stern face, “You seem to know quite well, have you let many ‘other men’ hold you?”

“…” Really, give him an inch, and he doesn’t take a mile.

But, Baili Xia wasn’t angry at all and even looked at him with a smile creeping into the corners of her eyes.

“What’s so funny?” Finally feeling his legs again, Mu Xiaojiu immediately carried her out of the cave.

“Uncle, did you… brave the storm last night to look for me?” This discovery made her ecstatic.

How deep must a man’s affection be to brave the big wind and rain, to search for her in the dense forest?

Especially since he came alone.

To find her, he actually left Ye Hua, who had followed him for many years, behind and came on his own.

He knew that entering the forest to search for someone in those conditions was no different from seeking death.

But, he came nonetheless.

She suddenly felt that in the past she had been too petty.

After all, whether he liked her body or who she was, at least he cared about her, right?

Always being angry with oneself, how foolish is that?

Mu Xiaojiu seemed even more uncomfortable with her question, admitting that he cared about her, when she was sick and delirious, was bearable with a few sweet words.

But, to say such nonsensical things that only a sissy would say when she was lucid, would that be too shameless?

Especially since he was still angry with her when he left yesterday, angry that she cared more for others than for him.

Angry that she always had so many important people in her heart, always defying him for those people.

Now, how could he simply stop being angry?

“That guy named Dongfang was crying and making a scene, saying you were missing. I was so annoyed by him that I had to reluctantly go out and look for you, so those people wouldn’t say I, as an elder, didn’t care about the safety of the young ones.”

He coughed lightly and cleared his throat.

For some reason, as he spoke these words, his heart felt a little empty.

Baili Xia bit her lip, trying hard to suppress her smile, but laughter still filled the corners of her eyes.

“What’s so funny?” Mu Xiaojiu saw the laughter brimming in her eyes that seemed to see right through him, and he felt even more uncomfortable.

To cover his embarrassment, he had no choice but to put on an even graver face and said fiercely, “It looks like you have some strength now.

The scenery here is unique, why not do some exercise to add a bit more fun?”

“I’m not laughing!

I’ll stop laughing!” The young girl was startled by his words and hurriedly tried her best to compose her expression.

Really, how hard is it to admit he cares about her, isn’t it just a matter of saying it?

Even if he’s reluctant to say it, can’t he just acknowledge it?

Does he have to appear so calm and heartless?

You just know it’s hard to hear a couple of nice words from this man’s mouth.

Baili Xia pouted slightly, really wanting to roll her eyes at him fiercely.

And he had the nerve to say Jin was crying and begging him to find her, pssh!

Jin would never be that dramatic; he would’ve gone to find her himself.
