Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

In fact, as soon as the Sequence Member-Ranking Battle had concluded, the military had begun its recruitment drive. Given the military’s manpower and the terms they could offer, their speed in this endeavor naturally went without saying.

However, the old Daoist—Wang Fucai, a name Wen Yu had just learned—disliked the military recruiters’ tone, which was soft on the surface but hard underneath. He had immediately thought of the current strongest expert among the Independents: Wen Yu!

Moreover, the Daoist priest, being Sequence Number 13, had previously hidden his strength because he couldn’t stand the military’s various treaties and restrictions. Compared to joining the military, he desired a freer space and lifestyle.

Coupled with the old Daoist’s peculiar ability system, he had also indirectly deduced Wen Yu’s intention to form an Independent Alliance, which was why he had come directly to him.

After chatting about a few miscellaneous odds and ends, the old Daoist rose and took his leave, saying he would go recruit more experts for Wen Yu.

In this regard, Wen Yu was certainly open to all comers—after all, with Victor around, he could subtly probe these people’s thoughts, thereby avoiding any devious plots. Of course, more importantly, Wen Yu had already defined this organization as an Independent Mutual Aid Alliance. Independents joining the organization only needed to adhere to some simple terms set by Wen Yu; he wouldn’t concern himself with other matters!

He wasn’t recruiting underlings, so there was no need to worry about things like loyalty. Besides, demanding loyalty often meant compromising on the strength of those who joined. Wen Yu was very confident that he wasn’t the kind of ’protagonist’ whose mere presence would make others kowtow in submission!

Seeing the old Daoist walk towards the door, Wen Yu shot Yang Hong a meaningful look.

Yang Hong immediately understood. ”Wait, I’ll go with you.”

The Daoist priest gave Wen Yu an enigmatic look, then said to Yang Hong with conviction, ”No problem. I’ll let you see just how this old Daoist’s tongue can talk the dead back to life!”

「...」

After the two had left, Wen Yu exited Yang Hong’s room and walked down the corridor towards his own.

Along the way, several professionists in military uniforms were constantly moving in and out of the Sequence members’ rooms—these were the personnel Lin Haifeng had dispatched to woo the Sequence members.

Of course, how many they could actually win over was an unknown, but Wen Yu estimated that quite a few powerful experts would want to join the Earth Community. Everyone understood the principle that it was good to seek shade under a large tree!

On his way, Wen Yu pondered Wang Fucai’s words in greater detail. After a while, he still couldn’t discern the old Daoist’s true intentions. For now, he could only have Yang Hong keep an eye on him.

Yang Hong’s reliability was quite high. Strictly speaking, Yang Hong could be considered Wen Yu’s only true confidant at present.
