Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

”Then how come I thought I heard someone say General Peng was having a heart attack?”

The other guard pondered seriously for a long moment before saying hesitantly.

”I also vaguely recall hearing something like that. It’s strange, though; no one came by.”

Should we go in and check?

These two had been with Peng Jun ever since he had personal guards and were his most trusted confidants. Naturally, they were aware of Peng Jun’s physical condition.

Peng Jun did indeed have a heart condition, but after becoming a professionist, it had never acted up again!

But who could say for sure if becoming a professionist could truly cure something like heart disease?

The two of them couldn’t make up their minds.

After deliberating for a while, they finally decided to knock on the door of Peng Jun’s office.

Unfortunately, there was no sound from within.

Remembering the words they had seemingly heard ”out of thin air,” they exchanged a look, then quickly pulled open Peng Jun’s office door and peered inside.

Inside, Peng Jun lay quietly on his office desk. His hands were resting gently on his chest, his face pale, yet he looked exceptionally peaceful.

The giant black eagle, now in its Mini Form, rested quietly beside Peng Jun, completely still. The black crystal on its head was long gone, leaving only a bloodless, round hole that looked ghastly and terrifying.

Peng Jun was dead, killed at the hands of Sequence Number 1.

In just a single minute, Sequence Number 1 had eliminated Peng Jun and the Giant Eagle demon spawn, taken the fragments of the Demon Realm’s Core from both of them, and even casually arranged them in a pose!

「...」

”Hey, Peng Jun is dead.”

With that one short sentence, Sequence Number 1 not only announced his return to Lin Haifeng but also informed him of what he had just accomplished.

Silence fell on the other end of the communicator before Lin Haifeng’s voice finally came through.

”If the job’s done, then come back.”

”By the way, before Peng Jun died, he activated all his contingency plans. Is everything alright on your end?”

Lin Haifeng went silent again, then he seemed to aim the communicator’s microphone towards the window.

The somewhat muffled sound of explosions could be heard through the communicator.

”They’ve been active for a few minutes. I don’t know if there’s a problem yet, but I think you’d better get back here and protect me. Otherwise, the partner you went to so much trouble to find might just get himself killed!”

”Oh, oh, oh, alright then! You know I despise probabilities the most. Wait for me, 10 minutes!”

After saying this, Sequence Number 1 immediately hung up. Then, his entire body seemed to transform into a streak of light, shooting off towards the Yanjing Assembly Site!
