Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

By the time Wen Yu had finished his third cup of hot tea, the scene on the screen suddenly switched from the original communication room to a luxurious, large conference room.

In front of the camera, a young man in military uniform was the first to greet Wen Yu.

”’Hello. I am the military’s War God, and also Sequence Number 3. It’s a pleasure to meet you.’”

「...」

Wen Yu was studying the young man on the screen opposite him.

Similarly, the War God was also sizing up Wen Yu.

He wore a black trench coat, with a somewhat old-fashioned pendant hanging around his neck.

His age seemed similar to Wen Yu’s, and his looks were quite ordinary.

But these were not the main points.

What was important was the aura, similar to his own, and the small Soul Beast on the man’s shoulder. That confident, sharp aura signified a strong self-assurance in his own abilities and extensive combat experience, while the small Soul Beast on his shoulder indicated his profession.

”’Soul Master?’ the War God asked, a hint of a question in his voice.

Wen Yu nodded and said, ”’Isn’t your Number 1 also a Soul Master?’”

Seeing the War God on the screen frown slightly, Wen Yu continued,

”’Jiang Wentao told me. By the way, how are the families of Jiang Wentao, Monkey, and Burly Bear?’”

The War God recalled for a moment, then said, ”’They are already being provided for according to the treatment for martyrs’ families, with supplies distributed monthly.’”

Wen Yu pondered for a moment, then slowly nodded.

”’Give them a bit more.’”

The War God nodded.

”’A small matter.’”

Hearing this, Wen Yu suddenly laughed.

”’I thought all you government people would scheme and haggle over every little thing, but you’re quite decent!’”

The War God slowly shook his head.

”’That depends on the matter. Things like this are our responsibility. You, on the other hand, seem to have quite a connection with those three.’”

Wen Yu nodded directly.

”’They are heroes!’”

”’Our military’s warriors are all heroes!’”

「...」

After a long silence, Wen Yu was the first to speak.

”’Let me introduce myself. My name is Wen Yu, Sequence Number 2!’”

”’You can call me Kuangliu, currently the military’s War God and Sequence Number 3. Since you took the initiative to contact the military, is there something you need?’”

Wen Yu nodded.

”’Just now, when I entered Central City, I killed someone! Oh, right, what was that idiot’s name again?’”

Seeing Wen Yu look his way, Wang Zhigang, who was standing nearby, immediately replied, ”’Xiao Longtao.’”

Wen Yu continued, ”’Xiao Longtao. It seems he was the officer here in charge of liaising with you people.’”

The War God, or Kuangliu, nodded. ”’Killed is killed, it doesn’t matter. Even a mutant pig could do that job.’”

”’No, that’s not what I mean.’”

Wen Yu shook his head and continued, ”’I heard his father works at the Military Headquarters. I don’t know what his position is.’”

”’I’m someone who dislikes trouble. Since I killed his son, he will definitely seek revenge on me. I want to resolve this matter now!’”

”’Wait a moment.’”

Kuangliu nodded without much hesitation and gestured to his secretary.

The secretary, understanding immediately, stepped out of the conference room.

In less than three minutes, the secretary returned, bringing a piece of paper with her.

”’Mm, this Xiao whatever-his-name-is. His old man is currently a minor head in the military’s Human Resources Department. How do you want to deal with him?’”

”’Kill him.’”

Kuangliu nodded without hesitation.

”’Number 8, you handle this. Make it clean.’”

Number 8 saluted Kuangliu, and then his figure slowly vanished.

Sequence Number 2 and Sequence Number 3.

The two of them, as if merely chatting like everyday friends, casually decided the life and death of one person, and potentially more.

And, predictably, in less than two days, both of them would forget this entire episode, no longer remembering a man named Xiao Longtao.

Nor would they recall ordering the death of someone’s father.

After all, this was, in the end, a world where the powerful decided everything!
