Chapter 564: Chapter 242 Start Training (Two in One Big Chapter)

The official training grounds were tucked behind a garden where the trees were tall and unevenly spaced, and at first glance, Rein couldn’t hide his amazement.

The Sword Bearers Branch really had deep pockets!

In Mingster, a provincial city where every inch of land was worth its weight in gold, the Sword Bearers Branch’s official training ground was immensely spacious.

At this moment, to Rein’s right was a three-story indoor training building, white and concave in shape. The building was also constructed from white striated stone blocks, and its columns and the top were decorated with some simple scroll carvings.

It looked both grand and aesthetically pleasing.

In front of Rein was a vast expanse of green grass—an outdoor training field multiple times the size of a normal riding arena, with several stables beside the area.

Right now, quite a few Sword Bearers were controlling horses to move in circles on the riding arena, performing jumps and sprints and the like.

Rein focused his gaze and noticed that most of the horses were almost as tall and robust as his black horse, with a conspicuous tuft of hair on their lower legs.

These must be the advanced horse breed “Rock Horse” that Vinica had mentioned before.

Moving his gaze even further away, Rein’s eyes landed on a platform that resembled a giant dish for griffins.

Indeed, it was a huge circular platform, about two meters above the ground, supported by a sturdy and thick white stone pillar, though the number of griffins seemed sparse.

Counting the two griffins soaring in the sky and the two remaining on the platform, there were only four in total. It wasn’t clear whether this was the original number, or if many griffins had been sent out on missions.

On the platform at the moment, each of the two griffins was attended by three or four staff members who were cleaning and grooming their feathers.

This platform must be the independent griffin perch of the Sword Bearers Branch, which likely had no affiliation with the griffin perch at the top of Mingster.

“To control griffins?”

Rein felt a pang of desire and instantly a thought sprouted in his mind.

After showing his bronze badge to the heavily guarded guards, Rein was allowed to enter the training ground.

Upon asking around, Rein learned that only silver-ranked Sword Bearers were qualified to train with griffins, and the training cost was exorbitantly expensive, at fifty Merit Points per hour.

If one’s talent was dull…

That would be a considerable expense!

Moreover, training was one thing, but renting a griffin for a mission was another expense altogether.

Of course, this didn’t apply to assigned missions.

Assigned missions were considered “official business,” and if you were instructed to ride a griffin for one, it was like taking an “official car” and naturally free from restrictions; moreover, the cost was completely waived.

“Luckily, I have my own Blood Feathered Horned Eagle. I’ll wait a few more months…”

“Right, I should visit my pets these next couple of days, and consider feeding Blood Feather some mutant growth potion. I don’t know if a naturally aggressive species will mutate after consumption, but the effect of accelerated growth should still be there.”

“And why hasn’t my black horse entered into a state of ferocious wild beast? ‘Cookie’ took about two months or so…”

Rein’s thoughts drifted…

Minutes later, following the direction given by the guards, Rein arrived in front of the tall, white, stone-clad, arc-shaped building.

Even from outside the building, Rein could feel the waves of mysterious side energy particles emanating from within, complex and varied.

More noticeable were the fluctuations of water and earth energy particles.

It seemed this place, as Instructor Kurman had said, applied witchcraft to the physical enhancement of knights and Great Knights.

In Meister County, such luxurious practices were unimaginable, but in the Sword Bearers Branch of the provincial city of Mingster, they seemed to have become a common part of the training regimen.

The magnitude of the disparity was clear to see.

Rein stepped into the lobby on the first floor, where he saw a curved service desk not far in front, with three young female clerks bustling about inside.
