Chapter 550: Chapter 238: Becoming a Guaranteed Admission Student for Once (Part 2 in 1 Large Chapter)_3

Rein didn’t mind the attention of the others and walked to one side, intending to select a training weapon, but in a flash, a spark of inspiration crossed his mind.

Right!

These vigorous young people, weren’t they the best candidates for him to gain experience from?

Immediately, Rein locked eyes with them!

However, Rein felt a bit disappointed when, after his gaze swept over them, they all lowered their heads and began whispering amongst themselves.

This…

He had thought they would meet his gaze and then come up to challenge him to a spar.

In that case, he could have happily ‘harvested’ an ‘experience NPC.’

What a pity!

Although they were experts in the imperial army, it seemed they were not reckless.

As Rein was hesitating over which combat skill to practice, a muscular young man approached him proactively and said:

“Lord Rein, I am Viery from the Bobini County. I deeply admire Lord Rein’s astonishing performance during the assessment and I wonder if I may have the honor of learning from you here.”

Hearing this, Rein’s smile grew brighter and more splendid!

Rein had thought that after the display of his hammer’s power, others would avoid him, but unexpectedly, there really was someone who took the initiative to spar with him.

It seems he had underestimated the passion and ambition of the youth.

The only slight disappointment was that the challenger wasn’t Angus, the most formidable greatsword and shield warrior among them.

Rein graciously replied,”Of course, that would be my honor!”

Viery hadn’t expected Rein to be so amiable and immediately relaxed a bit, having been somewhat nervous before.

The other young men standing at a distance laughed as they came closer.

“Viery, you have to go for it!”

“Lord Rein, please go easy on him; otherwise, Viery might not be able to withstand a single strike,” they said, chuckling.

….

“Don’t worry, I won’t be using the hammer today,” Rein said with a laugh, as he took a battle-ax and shield from the weapon rack.

This caused the young man named Viery to look at him puzzledly and say:

“Lord Rein, aren’t you skilled with the two-handed warhammer? Why…”

“Idiot! Lord Rein is doing this to prevent you from getting hurt,” a young man beside him said, patting Viery’s shoulder.

“Lord Viery, as for the axe and shield, I’m also quite familiar with it,” Rein added.

“Alright then,” Viery said, not fully convinced but nodding anyway.

Rein could guess what the other was thinking.

He must have believed that Rein wasn’t taking him seriously enough to engage in battle with a secondary weapon.

But there’s no helping it, sparring with a pig-headed hammer wouldn’t let him level up, as his Tokkal Hammer Technique was already at lv14….

Soon, the two stood ready in the center of the field, Rein holding an axe and shield, while Viery wielded a dual-handed greatsword.

“Lord Rein, please enlighten me!”

The next second, Viery swiftly stepped forward and his greatsword traced a lightning-fast half-moon arc, slashing down at a forty-five-degree angle towards Rein with crushing force!

In the face of Viery’s strike, Rein inwardly praised him, “Not bad at all!”

Rein’s reaction was lightning fast as well, immediately using his shield to block.

Clang!

The ear-piercing sound of metal on metal rang out.

Rein solidly blocked the greatsword’s chop.

It was just one strike, but Rein could tell that the other’s strength and agility were slightly lesser than his, but the greatsword combat skill was proficient, clearly reaching a master’s level.

If Rein used his Level 4 axe and shield combat skill in response, factoring the exchange, Viery indeed turned out to be a well-matched opponent.

Ding ding clang clang!

The faster they fought, the incessant clashing sounds of their weapons reverberated.

Clang!

Neither Rein nor Viery activated their ‘limit breaker,’ nor did they use any secret techniques, since this was after all a friendly spar.

Minutes later, Viery ran out of stamina and taking advantage of the opportunity, Rein delivered a shield strike that sent him flying several meters away.

“Lord Rein, thank you for holding back,” Viery said gratefully.

Seeing that Viery was ultimately defeated due to fatigue rather than skill, the young men exchanged glances, all thinking that Rein had deliberately gone easy.

After all, the power behind Rein’s hammer strikes had left a deep impression in their minds.

Rein glanced at the system notification:
