Chapter 224 – 153 The Strength of the Church (Two in One Big Chapter)_4

Rein could feel that, under the blessing of Rudolph’s Divine Arts, the originally powerful attacks of the Black Armored Knights, comparable to the full strikes of a Peak Knight with a Riding Spear, were significantly weakened by the silver light.

This divine art is named ‘Protection Blessing’?

Indeed, it lived up to its name!

At that point, seeing that the outcome was determined, Rudolph, the Meister, turned and smiled at Rein, “Rein, these young Templar Knights, whose talents far fall short of yours, were able to unleash great strength under the radiance of the goddess’s light.”

“And you, you are among the most gifted knights in all of Meister County. To embrace the goddess is your best choice! Rein, won’t you consider it?”

“Well…” Rein hesitated but did not speak.

Frankly speaking, is the church powerful?

No doubt, it is strong!

Even compared to the imperial official forces, it seemed not to be inferior by much.

However, one thing Rein disliked was that this near-invincible strength of the church did not originate from within; rather, it seemed to be granted by some divine being they worshipped in the beyond.

This sense of it not being truly ‘his’ gave Rein the impression it was borrowed.

How does that saying go, ‘What isn’t yours will eventually have to be returned.’

“Thank you for your generous love, Rudolph, but I’m scheduled to participate in the imperial ennoblement assessment in a few days, which is truly regrettable,” Rein politely declined.

While the two were talking, suddenly, from the dense forest to the right of the formation, another tall Black Armored Knight emerged, also wearing the characteristic crown helmet, only this time, the opponent wielded a long battle-axe instead of a long Riding Spear.

The blade of the axe was about a half-meter long, but the handle was a good one and a half meters. However, matched with the tall funeral horse below the Black Armored Knight, it was just right.

“There are actually two Evil Spirit Knights!” Meister Rudolph’s pupils shrank, and his expression was no longer relaxed.

Because of the increasing number of mysterious incidents in various regions of Meister County recently, in order to save manpower, this time the team configuration was set according to investigative intelligence, that is, to handle one Evil Spirit Knight.

Thus, Rudolph brought only four Templar Knights this time.

In terms of strength, the combination of him and the four Templar Knights was relatively easy to defeat one Evil Spirit Knight.

But if the opponents were two, then the balance of power would lean towards equilibrium!

Moreover, Rudolph quickly came to realize another issue—that the danger level of this place might far surpass expectations.

Perhaps, beneath the crumbling ruins, there lay secrets unknown to man.

Rein also realized this issue.

Concerning the emergence of Evil Spirit Knights, Hamilton once told him these words:

“The appearance of Evil Spirit Knights signifies that some kind of evil force is invading… or reviving! Evil Spirit Knights are the minions of the Evil God and must have sensed some kind of summons to appear…”

Clearly, with two Evil Spirit Knights appearing here, in this dilapidated and ancient temple, there surely must be some sort of treasure beckoning them here?

Or some kind of evil existence?

At that moment, the four Templar Knights also noticed the Evil Spirit Knight emerging from the side with a giant axe. After a quick exchange of glances, one immediately split off, attempting to intercept the opponent.

However, obviously, even the Templar Knight boosted by the Divine Arts ‘Protection Blessing’ could not possibly handle an Evil Spirit Knight alone, and within a few moments, he was decidedly at a disadvantage.

The arrows of the Night Watchmen, tinkling harmlessly off the knight’s armor, fell to the ground in disappointment.

Clearly ineffective!

This time, Rein did not seek Rudolph’s opinion, because the newly appeared Evil Spirit Knight had already directly endangered the safety of his subordinates.

Rein immediately lowered the face guard of his knight’s helmet and pulled out his Two-Handed Warhammer—’Strength Unyielding,’ motivating his horse to advance.
