Extraordinary in Reality Through Magic Games

189: Chapter 187 Joey, who seems to have an affair with the city lordWalking on the way to the construction site, Zhang Mu always felt that the person just now was a bit off.

Compared to when he was spying last night, the difference in both tone and body language was too great.

He would take some time to sneak into his house later to see what was going on.

There was too little relevant information in his hands, Zhang Mu thought, and brooding over it himself was useless, so he temporarily set the matter aside and quickened his pace.

After walking for half an hour, he could vaguely see the wooden fence situated on the distant grassland.

”Besides the Magister strike, are there any other urgent matters recently?”

After speaking, he waited a few seconds, but no sound came from behind him. Zhang Mu turned his head in confusion and found Solon with his head lowered, lost in his own thoughts: ”What are you daydreaming about?”

”City Lord.” Solon was startled awake, ”Is there anything?”

Repeating the question, he then asked: ”Being absent-minded is not your style.”

”I was just thinking about City Lord’s Magister level, and the Solar Storm.”

”What about the Solar Storm?”

”You spent about three months successfully condensing the storm seed; this is very... I cannot quite understand it.”

”Then don’t understand it.”

Unlike when he was with Potter, as the City Lord, Zhang Mu did not need to explain much to his secretary.

He couldn’t even be bothered to find an excuse to brush him off, ending the topic with a random sentence.

The two did not chat anymore afterwards and went into the construction site for a look around.

Apart from the Magisters who were busy when he last visited being gone, everything else was normal, and the project progress was moving forward in an orderly manner.

They turned around and headed back to the city.

On the way, Zhang Mu asked Solon for what reason the Vice City Lord wanted to hinder the ”City Lord’s” project.

Was there a conflict between the two sides?

He pondered, estimating that not only was there one, but the grudge was likely quite significant.

Otherwise, would they risk their lives to cause trouble?

However, Solon informed him that the two Vice City Lords had no conflict with the City Lord.

Although they were not very harmonious, they were not at daggers drawn either.

This left Zhang Mu puzzled.

Why did the two of them insist on testing whether he was impersonating the City Lord?

Even if he were fake, they wouldn’t become the City Lord.

It was more likely that the royal family would parachute someone in, making life even harder.

Conversely, given the City Lord’s original violent temper, he would likely kill anyone who provoked him on the spot.

What on earth were they thinking?

What for?

It couldn’t be that they were after my body, could it?

Their performance during last night’s conversation didn’t look like they were loyal subjects working for the country and the people, either.

Unable to figure it out, Zhang Mu kept this matter on his mind for the rest of the journey.

Passing through the gates of Gur, Zhang Mu felt as if a cat was scratching at his heart.

He waved to dismiss Solon to return to the mansion, instructed him to notify Domit, who was busy at the Resistance Army’s address, to come over, and then found an alleyway to activate his Shadow Technique and snuck towards Joey’s house.

...

”You idiot!”

Inside a dim, cramped stone house, Joey was frantically kicking a man curled into a shrimp-like ball on the floor.

”Brother, I’m scared...”

”The person you should be afraid of is me!” He lowered his foot and roared angrily.

Sensing that the painful feet had stopped landing on his body, the man, whose face was buried in his arms, tentatively raised it.

Perhaps Joey hadn’t used lethal force, or his self-protection movements had worked, as his face was unscathed.

Thanks to this, his appearance could be clearly seen—exactly the same as Joey’s.

”Brother...” He crawled on hands and feet to the feet of Joey, whose chest was heaving violently, and carefully gripped his pant leg, ”He is the City Lord, there is no mistake.

You saw it, the Solar Storm in his hands; if I had left one second later, I would have died, absolutely died!”

”Then go die obediently!”

Joey kicked his twin brother away, sat on the sofa against the wall, folded his arms across his chest, and closed his eyes tightly.

This was his habit; whenever he needed to think calmly, he would perform this action.
