Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 3018: Chapter 2954: It Really Does Feel a Bit Distant

However, back then, even the relatives of the Du Family seemed completely uninterested in urging him to drink. Everyone sat quietly at the banquet, eating their own meals and chatting among themselves. It appeared lively, but completely lacked a celebratory atmosphere.

The guests on his side looked at him with an almost sympathetic gaze.

It felt as if they were all watching to see what would become of his marriage with Du Jinruo.

”Brother Kuang.”

”Brother Yun Xian.” Meng Xinian pulled out a chair next to him and let him sit down, just as the person next to him went to another table for a toast. He raised his glass and clinked it with Kuang Yunxian’s, ”I’m really sorry, I was still in Ke Ku Li when you got married and couldn’t come back in time.”

”I understand, it’s alright.”

Kuang Yunxian smiled gently. This was something he knew could never be blamed on Meng Xinian; the mission was important, after all.

”A belated congratulations, Brother Yun Xian, I wish you happiness,” Meng Xinian said, taking the lead to drink his glass.

Kuang Yunxian drank his glass too. He looked at Jiang Xiao, smiled, and said, ”Xiao Chiang, thank you for your generous wedding gift.”

Jiang Xiao’s gift was quite substantial.

Jiang Xiao smiled and shook her head, indicating it was nothing.

Kuang Yunxian thought they must have a lot to talk about after not seeing each other for so long, but after Jiang Xiao’s slight smile, he suddenly found himself unsure what to say.

A slightly awkward silence settled between the three of them.

Kuang Yunxian had always believed that his marriage to Du Jinruo wouldn’t really change anything, but now he suddenly and clearly realized that it did have some impact.

Such as, Meng Xinian and Jiang Xiao didn’t ask a word about his newly married life and feelings.

And he also felt it a bit inconvenient to talk to them about what he’d been doing recently.

After all, his recent efforts were all for Du Jinruo.

With Du Jinruo between them, it seemed like there truly was a distance.

This realization left a bitter feeling in Kuang Yunxian’s heart.

”By the way, Xiao Chiang, how is Little Snowball?”

Hearing him mention the kitten, Jiang Xiao was momentarily stunned, then quickly said, ”Snow Ball is doing fine, it’s been living in City M, with my grandparents...”

At this point, Jiang Xiao suddenly exclaimed, ”Oh!”

Kuang Yunxian and Meng Xinian were both taken aback.

”What’s wrong?” Meng Xinian’s heart skipped a beat, thinking something happened to her.

Jiang Xiao smacked her forehead.

”Oh, I’m really not bright, now that my little uncle is still young, having a cat at home might not be a good idea.”

”Why?” Meng Xinian was puzzled, what could be bad about it?

Kuang Yunxian asked, ”Has your grandmother given birth already?”

He didn’t know about this.

”Yes, my little uncle is already two months old.” Jiang Xiao herself was a bit unsure, she said to Meng Xinian, ”I think I’ve heard that if there’s a baby at home, having cats or dogs around might affect the baby. How about I bring Snow Ball back? Our house is so big now, it has a lot of space to move around, plus I’m not busy every day, so I can take care of Snow Ball.”

Moreover, there’s Ding Haijing and the others there as well.

She wanted to bring Snow Ball back to her side as it was a gift from Meng Xinian.

If it stayed with Chiang Songhai and the others for a few more years, she would feel awkward taking Snow Ball away once they got attached.

Meng Xinian immediately nodded.
