Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 3002: Chapter 2938: Why Invite Outsiders

Meng Xinian actually felt it was quite normal.

”Because I’m her man, my status is higher than yours.”

Ding Haijing’s face turned dark.

Haha.

If he weren’t really unable to win in a fight, Ding Haijing thought he could have just had a brawl right now.

Cui Family.

Madam Cui received a call from Jiang Xiao, heard that she had some unexpected matters and couldn’t come anymore, she sighed and hung up the phone, still feeling quite sorry.

A boy around thirteen years old walked over, glanced at her, and softly asked, ”Grandma, what happened? Is it that sister you mentioned who can’t come?”

”Oh, yes, that’s right.”

”Today is actually our family banquet, why does Grandma insist on inviting outsiders?”

Madam Cui looked at her grandson, chuckled lightly, and said, ”Jingyu, has Grandma ever told you that the reason Grandma was able to return home from the sanatorium was largely thanks to that Sister Xiao Chiang?”

”Hmm, Grandma mentioned it, and Grandpa also said it a few times, but wasn’t the greatest credit to Sister Mu? Sister Mu took care of Grandma for so long in the sanatorium, yet even Sister Mu wasn’t invited today.”

Lin Jingyu blinked, and said confusedly.

Even little Xiao Mu who took care of her for three years isn’t on the invitation list, why is this Xiao Jiang who only appeared recently being invited by Madam Cui and General Cui?

Today was solemn family banquet where the three uncles would all be present.

If there are any outsiders at this time, those outsiders wouldn’t really be seen as outsiders.

”She can’t come now because of something.”

Madam Cui didn’t say much, just said this sentence, then turned and went to the courtyard to tend to the potted roses she brought back from the sanatorium.

Wasn’t it said that this pot of roses was also given by that Xiao Jiang?

Indeed, it was blooming quite well, a pot of flowers, seven or eight blossoms, each with vibrant colors.

Lin Jingyu looked at that pot of flowers, a glint flashed in his eyes.

When he walked over to the dining room, a middle-aged woman who was carrying out a plate of fish glanced at him helplessly and said, ”Jingyu, what did you go talk to your Grandma about? Don’t upset her.”

”Mom, when did I upset Grandma?” Lin Jingyu said, ”I’ve always been very concerned about Grandma’s health, you know that, right?”

”Yes, yes, I know, but aren’t you overly concerned about the matter with Xiao Jiang?” Cui Mingshan couldn’t help but ask.

This was her son, how could she not understand?

Ever since he knew his grandpa and grandma were inviting that Xiao Jiang over for dinner, he seemed off.

Lin Jingyu looked around, seeing no one else was there, he walked up to her and lowered his voice, ”Mom, you have to know, previously I said maybe I would have to go take an exam today, what did Grandma and Grandpa say?”

”What did they say? Didn’t they say, just focus on the exam and don’t need to come over?” Cui Mingshan said.

”Yeah, do you think what they said is okay?”

”What’s wrong with that? Isn’t your exam important?”

Lin Jingyu looked at her, a bit annoyed, and said, ”Mom, are you really unaware or pretending to be? Do you know what the significance of today’s family banquet is? How long has Grandma been in the sanatorium? More than three years, right? This is her first time back home, and the three uncles are all gathering for dinner. You could say this is the first nearly complete gathering for the Cui family in three or four years, what if Grandpa and Grandma have something to announce at this time?”
