Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 2788: Chapter 2724: Heart Condition

”Then let’s have a look, see how this young girl paints now.”

”A young girl painted this?”

”Isn’t it?” Old Madam Wei brought up Jiang Xiao, still regretting that she wasn’t her granddaughter-in-law. ”Such a young age, yet she’s already internationally renowned as a young painter, and she’s even won first prize in Country Y.”

”Really? Then I must take a look.”

”Come, have a look. I haven’t seen it yet, either. I don’t even know what she’s painted.”

The nurse came over and took the painting, unfolding it in front of Madam Cui.

At first glance, they saw a soft, white pillow.

Madam Cui was startled.

Painting a pillow?

Not quite, there’s more.

Unfolding further revealed a bed, on which slept a very cute and soft young girl, probably around seven or eight years old, chubby and extremely adorable, with eyelashes very long like rows of black fans.

She rested her head on the pillow, which had visibly sunk under her weight, showing that the pillow was incredibly soft.

This little girl was sleeping very, very soundly.

The entire picture gave off a feeling of extreme tranquility, making them feel as if even the slightest breeze might wake the little girl.

Seeing the little girl made them want to reach out and touch her chubby little cheek.

”My goodness, what excellent painting. Whose little girl is this? Was it painted from a model?”

Because of Madam Cui’s heart condition, it’s virtually impossible for children to appear in her life, as they are too noisy and could unexpectedly scream and frighten her.

Yet, nobody knew that Madam Cui actually loved children deeply.

She didn’t even manage to spend time with her grandchildren properly and always felt regretful, not knowing what children’s cuteness would be like. Now, Jiang Xiao’s painting had hit the softest spot in Madam Cui’s heart.

She suddenly remembered that she could have someone paint portraits of her grandchildren with all sorts of expressions and postures so she could see them more often.

Moreover, upon seeing this painting, she felt no burden in her heart, unlike before when thinking of her grandchildren would immediately bring up thoughts of their noise.

Thinking about all those moments used to weigh on her heart.

But upon seeing this painting, she thought of them and felt no burden.

”What a wonderful painting, truly wonderful.”

Even though Old Madam Wei had seen many reports about Jiang Xiao before, she hadn’t realized her paintings could be this good. ”I don’t know which child she painted it after; perhaps we should let her come in and talk about it?”

”Is she still outside?” Madam Cui asked.

”Yes, I was worried a stranger might disturb you, so I had her wait outside.”

Madam Cui quickly said, ”Then please let her come in, how can we let a child wait outside for so long.”

At this point, Madam Cui didn’t think about the possibility of strangers coming in and disturbing her.

Jiang Xiao walked in.

Madam Cui only felt her footsteps were very, very light, so light she could barely hear them.

Jiang Xiao gave her a gentle smile.

That smile reminded Madam Cui of the young girl in the painting.

Clearly, she was a seventeen or eighteen-year-old young woman, but she was vaguely reminded of an adorably cute little girl.

Perhaps it was because of the painting she had just seen.

”Are you Xiao Chiang? I see the signature on the painting is Xiao Chiang.”
