Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 2716: Chapter 2652: Hongfeng Welfare Institute

Today she was going to the Jin Family, to visit, no matter what, for the sake of the matters concerning Luofeng Institute.

Upon reaching the Jin Family, Mrs. Jin received her.

”You’re Xiao Chiang, right? I’ve heard your name many times, from my husband and my son, they often mention you.”

Mrs. Jin was genuinely pleased to see Jiang Xiao.

”Isn’t Jin Lei always speaking ill of me?” Jiang Xiao joked, handing over the tea she was carrying. ”This is tea from my store, I just casually brought over two cans.”

That casually...

Mrs. Jin was aware of the Youqingwei Teahouse; sometimes Wang Yi would bring it up to them, and she had visited it once with a good friend. She was quite aware of its ambiance and the cost there.

Of course, she also knew the quality of the tea there.

So even though Jiang Xiao said she casually brought two cans over, Mrs. Jin didn’t believe it was truly casual.

”You’re too kind. Look, you’re good friends with Little Yi, and classmates with Xiaolei, so there’s no need to be so polite when visiting our home.”

Jiang Xiao put the tea on the table, accepting her kindness.

”Alright then, it’s the first time after all. Next time I won’t bring gifts.”

Mrs. Jin laughed, ”Alright, alright, then I’ll accept it this time.”

She indeed quite liked Jiang Xiao’s personality.

After sitting down, Jiang Xiao went straight to the point.

”When will Director Jin be back? I actually have something I’d like to ask him.”

”He might not be back until tomorrow night, it’s not definite yet. Do you want to tell me what’s going on?”

Mrs. Jin pushed the fruit platter toward her, inviting her to eat some fruit.

”It’s like this, I’d like to ask about Luofeng Institute. Luofeng Institute is a welfare institution, Jin Lei said you might be aware of it, Mrs. Jin.”

Mrs. Jin was taken aback for a moment, frowning slightly as she pondered.

”Luofeng Institute... I think the name sounds familiar, I should have heard about it, let me think.”

Jiang Xiao dared not rush her, just waited for her to search her memory carefully.

After a while, Mrs. Jin clapped her hands and said, ”I remembered. Yes, it’s a welfare institution, but it’s quite far from here. We visited it ten years ago, at that time we went to deliver supplies while going to the countryside, it seemed like delivering rice, the unit said it was a charity act so they selected a few welfare institutions and sent a few teams out.”

Did she really know?

Jiang Xiao’s spirit lifted, and she immediately asked, ”So Mrs. Jin went to Luofeng Institute at that time?”

”Yes, that’s right. At that time, it was called Hongfeng Welfare Institute, not Luofeng Institute. I remembered because, after we came back, Old Jin told me that the place used to be a wealthy person’s estate originally called Luofeng Institute. After it was nationalized and turned into a welfare institution, its name was changed to Hongfeng Welfare Institute, but among the locals and those familiar with it, occasionally it was still referred to as Luofeng Institute.”

”Ten years ago?”

Jiang Xiao thought of the writing behind the portrait of Qingshuang, it was dated 1982, which wasn’t many years before now. So, was she there ten years ago?

She hurriedly took out the portrait of Shi Xiaoching that she had redrawn last night from her backpack and unfolded it for Mrs. Jin to see.

”Did Mrs. Jin see this person when you visited?”

Mrs. Jin looked at the portrait.

The girl in the portrait had an exquisite, ethereal beauty.

She couldn’t help but glance at Jiang Xiao, feeling that she seemed to have a faint resemblance to the girl in the portrait, but felt awkward asking about it.
