Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 2700: Chapter 2636: Goods Like These

Old Master Jiang took the pendant from Jiang Shiheng’s hand, glanced at it, and said, ”So it’s this kind of quality.”

He handed the pendant to Old Master Lu in a mocking manner and said, ”Previously, due to my trust in Shuangshuang, I never thought about taking a good look at this stone. She was always concealing it. Now, is there some misunderstanding on Lu Family’s part? When we present an engagement token, we are not sending something of such quality.”

”Old Jiang, what do you mean by this? What do you mean by ’this kind of quality’?”

”This gemstone, although its quality isn’t bad, its fire and craftsmanship are completely inferior to the one from our Jiang Family. Moreover, the pendant has a perfectly designed secret ring; otherwise, do you think our Jiang Family is paupers, casually picking a ruby for engagement? Old Lu shouldn’t look down on people like this.”

In recent years, the Lu Family entered politics more, but although there were many Lu Family members in the political arena, none rose higher, except for a few like Lu Zhenggang.

Moreover, they were mostly clean-handed, and the Lu Family was far inferior compared to great wealthy families like the Jiang Family.

Furthermore, in his youth and middle age, Old Master Jiang was indeed capable. When the nation needed it, the Jiang Family donated a sizable fortune, gaining a good reputation, and Jiang Shiheng’s father was a young genius, always building bridges and roads, implementing measures to protect the fishermen of D State. The Jiang Family’s reputation was loud, yet they had the ability to stand firm amidst years of turmoil. This was indeed a great skill.

Old Master Jiang had never flaunted his wealth before Old Master Lu, so this sudden act now made Old Master Lu feel like his face was slapped and it burned with pain.

This old thing from Jiang Family!

Is he calling the Lu Family petty? Miserable?

A five-carat ruby even, and he’s saying it’s casually picked?

It’s quite a big one!

To find such a ruby, they had put in considerable effort back then and even spent a lot of money!

That sum was considered a major expenditure for the Lu Family at the time. Although the Lu Family is much stronger now, in terms of wealth, it still can’t compare to the Jiang Family.

So now, is Old Master Jiang fiercely looking down on them?

Fourth Master Jiang also loudly exclaimed, ”Indeed, Old Master Lu shouldn’t look down on people like this. If that ruby wasn’t top-tier, why would we use it as an engagement token?”

Here we go.

Fine, fine!

We get it, your Jiang Family’s ruby is top-tier, isn’t it enough?

Old Master Lu was so enraged he nearly had a stroke.

He took a deep breath and said, ”What Xiao Sixth mentioned about the annulment back then, we were unaware. Annulment is not something so easily done. Shouldn’t the elders of both families meet formally to clarify? The letters exchanged should merely be childhood disputes, right?”

He looked at Jiang Shiheng and said, ”Back then, you were both young, and it’s normal to argue and bicker. Sometimes in moments of anger, one may say heated words, talking about breaking up; it’s just a small thing between kids, isn’t it? This matter shouldn’t be taken seriously.”

They’re trying to play off the annulment years ago as a mere joke and argument.

Jiang Shiheng shook his head and said, ”Back then, I had someone deliver the annulment letter to the old master’s hand, but Miss Lu personally intercepted it. This isn’t my problem, and I mentioned in the letter that it was merely to inform of my intention, and I would pay a formal visit for the official annulment.”
