Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 2698: Chapter 2634: The Engagement Has Already Been Broken Off

Lu Junyou suddenly said, ”Old Master, Miss Lu has been through a lot in the past couple of days. I think, perhaps we should take her back to Pingzhou first. Maybe being away from this environment would make her feel better when she wakes up.”

Now he was worried that when Lu Shuangshuang woke up and saw her current situation, and saw herself, she would break down.

There was a child in her womb, a child that had not come easily, and he absolutely couldn’t allow anything to happen to the child.

Old Master Lu took a deep breath.

”Okay...”

Chen Yiping didn’t initially want to say anything, but as a doctor, he felt compelled by his ethics to remind them, ”That’s not possible. Miss Lu is currently weak, and the fetus is really unstable. The best thing for her right now is to stay in bed and rest to preserve the pregnancy. She cannot travel.”

Lu Junyou frowned, ”Then how long should she stay in bed?”

”At least a month.”

You’re kidding, how could they possibly stay here for another month?

Who knows what might happen during that month?

Lu Junyou’s temple throbbed.

Jiang Shiheng, however, spoke coldly, ”Actually, Old Master Lu, I remember that the Lu Family has a vacation house in D State, right?”

”Jiang Liu, what do you mean by this?” Old Master Lu’s face darkened.

Jiang Shiheng’s face was even darker than his.

”Old Master, originally, I shouldn’t be bringing up this issue at this moment. But now that Miss Lu is pregnant, for the sake of her reputation and the child in her womb, I think I can no longer hold the title of Miss Lu’s fiancé. It’s unfair to Miss Lu, to her child, and to the child’s father.”

”Jiang Liu!” Old Master Lu roared angrily, ”Whether Shuangshuang is pregnant is another matter. Are you not a man for being so eager to distance yourself from her?”

”Precisely because I am a man,” Jiang Shiheng smiled coldly and said, ”Old Lu is also a man and should understand that a man cannot accept this kind of situation. Also, I am only considering Miss Lu and her child’s biological father, what’s wrong with that? Most importantly, in fact, Miss Lu and I broke off the engagement twenty years ago.”

At this, the other members of the Jiang Family were stunned.

”Xiao Sixth, what did you say? You and Lu Shuangshuang broke off the engagement long ago?” Fourth Master Jiang also asked in shock.

Jiang Shiheng nodded, ”That’s right, she and I broke off the engagement twenty years ago, and Miss Lu agreed, even returning the betrothal token from back then.”

”The betrothal token? Wasn’t Lu Shuangshuang always wearing it?” Fourth Madam Jiang, being a woman, was more interested in gemstone ornaments, so she had long noticed the ruby pendant Lu Shuangshuang was wearing, which Lu Shuangshuang said was the engagement token from Jiang Liu.

”I also don’t understand why Miss Lu always wore a pendant similar to the token we gave her back then. However, Miss Lu’s ruby is not as good in quality as the one from the Jiang Family, and the Jiang Family’s pendant can actually be separated to reveal a gemstone ring inside. Miss Lu’s pendant is probably not like that, is it?”

”I’ll take a look!”

Jiang Qiuyan said as she walked towards the bed, reaching for the necklace around Lu Shuangshuang’s neck.

Initially, Chiang Xiao had taken the necklace back and handed it to Jiang Shiheng.

They originally just wanted Lu Shuangshuang to be unable to produce such a copied pendant, to consider it as if she had already returned the token back then.
