Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 2053: Chapter 1989: Don’t Make Things Hard for Her

Thinking of this, he recalled the time when Chiang Xiao, just thirteen or fourteen years old, followed them up Bai Gu Mountain, chased by wild boars all over the mountains, learned to climb trees, learned to kill snakes, learned to forage for wild vegetables, dug for herbs everywhere, and even took the lead himself to negotiate with the restaurant manager about selling mountain goods. His nose turned slightly sour.

”Uncle, how has Little managed through these years, have you forgotten? She has worked so hard to overcome her hardships, diligently learned painting, competed fiercely, and wants to live a good life. We mustn’t add more trouble for her.”

”I didn’t intend to trouble Little...” Chiang Songhai mumbled.

It’s precisely because he doesn’t want to trouble Little that he doesn’t know how to handle this matter.

Xu Linjiang knew saying this might seem cruel, but he gritted his teeth and still decided to speak.

”But Chen Zhu’s existence is trouble for Little. She can’t do anything to her; she just wants not to hear about her. Everyone goes on living their own lives, and this is not Little’s choice but Chen Zhu’s own choice, remember? Chen Zhu chose to be with that Kuang fellow, didn’t want to be with you, nor did she want to fulfill her motherly responsibilities to Little. She left on her own, didn’t she?”

These words prompted Chiang Songhai to recall the day right there when Chen Zhu said she couldn’t live without Kuang Kanzhi and wanted to leave with him.

His heart turned cold again.

Xu Linjiang continued, ”And how old is Chen Zhu? Little is eighteen and is managing very well. Chen Zhu is over thirty, is she still a child? Can she just follow anyone who gives her candy? Didn’t you say that Kuang mentioned he asked in the hospital and found out Chen Zhu chose to go with that man, who claimed to be her husband? She didn’t refute it and went voluntarily, implying she must know the man.”

He wanted to say, even if Chen Zhu was foolish, unable to discern people accurately, whatever happens is her own choice.

Someone over thirty, does she still need her parents constantly watching over her?

How could that be?

All these years, even if she encountered many things outside, didn’t she manage to live until now?

She chooses to rely on a man for life, who could she blame?

If Chiang Songhai and the others have to manage this, who knows how many more things they’ll have to deal with in the future.

Then Little’s statement of not recognizing Chen Zhu and treating her as a stranger proves meaningless.

”So, why did she end up following him?” Chiang Songhai genuinely couldn’t comprehend this.

Why could she just go with another man?

Wasn’t she with Kuang Kanzhi?

She said at the beginning she couldn’t be without him, yet ended up leaving with someone claiming to be her husband. What is this?

”Don’t know.” Xu Linjiang shook his head and said, ”What she thinks, we are not clear. But you and aunt really don’t need to worry about this, or try finding a way to inquire. If this surname Kuang stirs things up, and Little hears about it when she returns, she definitely won’t be happy. If you think about looking into Chen Zhu’s matter again, how can she happily marry?”

His first thought was to suppress the matter for now.

At least, don’t tell Little, let her happily and blissfully get married.

How can they bring up Chen Zhu’s matter at this time to add frustration for her?

”Uncle, think about it, if Little’s father doesn’t know about this yet, suddenly learns the truth from back then, who knows how he’ll feel? If he can’t even smile during Little’s wedding, can Little be happy?”
