Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 2050: Chapter 1986: Turning a Deaf Ear and a Blind Eye

”Let me say a few words to her.” Ah Liu walked over and took the receiver from Cheng Cheng’s hand.

”Hello, I am... huh, hung up?”

In City M, Chiang Songhai looked at the disconnected phone, exhaled, and felt a cold sweat break out on his forehead.

He looked at Ge Liutao and couldn’t help but ask, ”Ah Tao, what are you trying to do?”

Earlier, he had been chatting with Ge Dejun and the others and hadn’t paid attention to Ge Liutao. When he realized she was on the phone, he immediately rushed over, just in time to hear her say, ”I’m really worried about Ah Zhu,” which made his heart skip a beat.

What is she trying to do?

Ge Liutao’s eyes suddenly reddened.

She looked at Chiang Songhai and said with a hoarse voice, ”Uncle Hai, aren’t you worried about Ah Zhu? At the very least, we should know where she is.”

”Our Zhuzhu is already dead. That Ah Zhu is someone else, have you forgotten?” Chiang Songhai couldn’t help but feel a twinge in his heart.

But he still had to force himself to say it.

Ge Liutao’s tears started to fall.

”But she clearly is...”

”Ah Zhu, have you forgotten what we promised Little and Xinian?”

Ge Liutao couldn’t help but argue, ”I’m not trying to acknowledge her, nor do I want to see her. I just want to know if she’s okay, if she’s still alive. Uncle Hai, what if she was really taken away by a bad person? We may not acknowledge her, but we can’t just stand by and do nothing.”

Her heart ached terribly.

After all, she was her biological daughter.

If she knew something had happened to her, how could she pretend not to know anything?

At the very least, they should know where she is, if she hasn’t been hurt, if she’s still living well, right?

Chiang Songhai was rendered speechless by her words, not knowing how to respond.

He was somewhat worried himself, but he had to force himself not to think about it.

”I just want to ask if it’s Little’s father who took her away,” Ge Liutao wiped her tears and said, ”Do you think it’s possible that because Little is getting married, Little’s father felt that she should have her biological mother present that day, so he took her back?”

Previously, knowing where Chen Zhu was, knowing she was with the Kong Family, Ge Liutao wasn’t worried. She just occasionally thought how wonderful it would be if Little could have both parents together as a family.

But now, with Kan Zhi saying Chen Zhu is missing and was taken away by a man, how could she not worry?

What if that man really is a bad person?

No matter what, they don’t even acknowledge their biological daughter and say she’s already dead. To Ge Liutao, this is already too much. Do they really have to ignore her life and death?

”Uncle Hai, no matter what, we’re just asking, it’s not a big deal, right? Can’t we even ask?”

Chiang Songhai’s lips trembled, unable to speak.

At this time, Xu Linjiang walked over, saw their expressions, and couldn’t help but ask, ”Aunt, Uncle, is something wrong?”

Chiang Songhai was also at a loss for what to do at this time.

To say he wasn’t worried about Chen Zhu would be a lie.

However, he always strictly adhered to one principle, to listen to Chiang Xiao.

Chiang Xiao had already told them to treat Chen Zhu as if she were dead, not to ask, not to acknowledge, so they definitely couldn’t ask or acknowledge.

They didn’t know how much Little’s father knew about Chen Zhu’s situation, and what if asking ruined things for Little?

He felt pain for Chen Zhu, but he felt even more pain for Little.

Besides, with Little’s wedding just days away, they couldn’t possibly cause her any trouble at this critical moment, could they?
