Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 2024: Chapter 1960: An Empty Home

”Xiao Fang!” He went over and knocked on the door, calling out. ”Ah Zhu?”

Bam bam bam, the dust on the door thumped down as he kept knocking.

Even the doorknob was covered with dust.

Kuang Kanzhi’s heart jumped heavily.

This clearly doesn’t look like a place that just recently became unoccupied.

What is going on?

Where has everyone gone?

”Xiao Fang! Qingqing!” He pounded on the door even harder. This lock he had never seen before, so naturally, he didn’t have the key.

He knocked for a long time. A nearby neighbor opened their door, poking their head out for a while before shouting to him, ”Mr. Kuang, why are you back?”

Kuang Kanzhi found it strange; wasn’t it normal for him to return home?

”Oh, I went to study out of town and just got back today. Do you know where my wife went?”

”Didn’t they already go abroad?”

The neighbor’s expression was quite odd.

Xiao Fang taking Kuang Qingqing abroad was already known throughout the area, so why did Kuang Kanzhi seem completely oblivious?

”What? Abroad?”

It was like a thunderclap exploded above his head, leaving Kuang Kanzhi completely bewildered.

He couldn’t recover for quite a while.

He had never heard Xiao Fang mention going abroad before, and moreover, Xiao Fang was rather fond of her home. By this time in previous years, she would’ve already started cleaning up and putting up Spring Festival couplets and flowers. This year was obviously very out of the ordinary.

”Yes, abroad. Took your family’s Qingqing abroad too.”

”Then, then, what about our Zhuzhu?”

Upon hearing Kuang Kanzhi mention Chen Zhu, a hint of scorn flickered in the neighbor’s eyes, but still, they said, ”That I don’t know. She hasn’t come back either.”

”When did this happen?”

”Can’t recall exactly, but it must have been a month or so.”

A month or so...

Kuang Kanzhi’s body swayed.

Finally, he borrowed an ax from the neighbor and directly smashed the lock open, pushing the door open and going inside.

It was a room full of dust and emptiness.

Kuang Kanzhi felt a bit dazed. The shock was so intense, his mind couldn’t function.

He rushed to his study, opened the safe, and found only a bankbook inside, but the balance in the bankbook was barely anything, leaving less than two thousand yuan.

There used to be tens of thousands in there.

Also, there were several gold bars and many Silver Dollars, and now they’re all gone.

Kuang Kanzhi’s hands started trembling.

He struggled to get up, grabbed the phone to dial, but the receiver was silent; upon checking, the phone line was unplugged.

He shakily plugged the line back in, tried it, but found the number was already suspended.

Even the phone was cut off.

How could he fool himself that there was a robbery at home?

”Xiao Fang...”

The neighbor couldn’t explain what had exactly happened, but still shared some prior events. Like the incident Kuang Qingqing caused, making such a disgrace, sleeping with a man in the same bed and being mentioned in the newspaper, later causing a fuss with the man’s family, the family refused to marry her, and she nearly went crazy.

Also, Chen Zhu got hurt at home, ended up in the hospital, and the police came to the Kong Family to take Kuang Qingqing away.

These incidents, sounded like a joke.

How could this be?

How long had he been away, and so much had happened at home?

Now, he was the only one left?

Xiao Fang took all the money!

That woman, that woman actually dared...

Kuang Kanzhi pulled open all the drawers and saw the divorce certificate.
