Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 1821: Chapter 1757: Recognizing One’s Ancestry and Returning to the Family Line

Entering Old Master Jiang’s hospital room, Chiang Xiao immediately sensed a slight tension in the atmosphere.

Old Master Jiang and Ah Liu seemed to be in a standoff.

And Jiang Yingqiong stood aside, looking a bit anxious, unsure of whom to persuade.

Meng Xinian was standing a bit farther, leaning against the wall.

”What’s going on here?” Chiang Xiao asked.

Upon seeing her, Old Master Jiang’s expression softened, and he gestured for her to come over, ”Girl, come here, great-grandfather wasn’t in good spirits yesterday and didn’t get a good look at you.”

Chiang Xiao glanced at Meng Xinian and walked over to Old Master Jiang.

Old Master Jiang looked at her and sighed lightly, saying, ”You do take after your great-grandmother. Your father resembles her too, but you more so. She was this beautiful when she was young.”

Old Lady Jiang has passed away, hasn’t she?

”I hear your nickname is Little, so let’s all call you Little.”

”Sure.”

”Little, your medicine and Ginseng are excellent. It’s all thanks to you that great-grandfather’s life was saved. Rest assured, girl, I’ll always keep it in my heart.”

Chiang Xiao pressed her lips together.

This part she didn’t doubt.

They say Old Master Jiang is a very upright person and considers relationships with a sense of duty and fairness.

Even if they didn’t have this connection, she believed he would be grateful to her and wouldn’t hold back what she deserved.

But sometimes people are strange like that. It’s easier to be fair with strangers than with family.

She always felt a sense of closeness to Old Master Jiang, though she didn’t know why.

”It’s nothing. I’m just glad I could save you,” she said.

Old Master Jiang nodded slightly, ”Good child. Here’s the thing, I was just discussing with your father that in half a month, I’ll return to D State. At that time I’ll take you and your father back with me, you need to recognize your ancestors and meet the rest of the family. Also, shouldn’t you change your name? Let great-grandfather give you a new name, what do you think?”

Chiang Xiao was taken aback.

Going to the D State Jiang Family in half a month?

Recognize ancestors?

The Jiang Family didn’t even know that Ah Liu had a daughter yet.

Honestly, Chiang Xiao wasn’t keen on going to the Jiang Family yet, nor on recognizing her ancestors.

Moreover, ”Change my name?”

”Yes, you’re a child of the Jiang Family. When you return home, you’ll have to change back to the Jiang surname, right?”

Chiang Xiao couldn’t help but rub her forehead.

She had never liked being part of the Chiang Family.

The entire family of Boss Chiang made her extremely nauseated, but now that she thought about changing a surname she’d used for two lifetimes, it felt a bit strange.

She had grown accustomed to her current name.

Luckily, Jiang and Chiang sound the same, so there doesn’t seem to be much difference when spoken out loud?

Old Master Jiang said, ”The name Xiao seems a bit ordinary and plain. You’re the first child of this generation in our branch, so we can’t be careless with your name. I haven’t thought of a good name yet, but give me some time to think it over, and I’ll make sure it’s something both beautiful and grand, how about that?”

Chiang Xiao said, ”It’s actually not that complicated. I’ll follow after my father’s surname, changing to Jiang is fine, but the name should stay.”

Jiang Xiao works too.

Old Master Jiang shook his head, ”No, no, you don’t understand. A name is connected with a person’s fate. You can’t be careless with it. Don’t worry, great-grandfather will come up with a few names for you to choose from, and we’ll pick whichever sounds nice, how about that?”

He smiled kindly at Chiang Xiao, ”Rest assured, great-grandfather won’t be that overbearing.”

Since he put it that way, Chiang Xiao found herself speechless.

Well, let’s wait and see the names he comes up with first.
