Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 954: Chapter 955: Guarantee Honesty

Meng Xinian locked her tightly in his arms, ”Your bed is very big.”

”Pfft.” Chiang Xiao finally couldn’t hold back and burst out laughing, ”Meng Xinian! You don’t seriously want to sleep in the same room with me, do you?”

”Mhm, I do.”

The moment they got in the car and left Guan Town, he had a very strong desire to hold her and sleep with her. He wanted to be as close to her as possible, utterly unwilling to part with her even for a moment.

”You must be crazy!”

Chiang Xiao glared at him.

”Little, I really want to, truly.” Meng Xinian pulled her into his embrace and held her tight, not letting her struggle free.

”I’m only fifteen...”

”You’ll turn sixteen after the New Year, in just over two months.” Meng Xinian held her in his arms and buried his face in the crook of her neck, inhaling her sweet scent deeply, his body tensing up.

He felt like he was definitely looking for trouble for himself, barely able to handle holding her like this, and if they shared a bed at night, it would probably be even more tormenting. But he just wanted to hold her while sleeping, not wanting to leave.

Chiang Xiao couldn’t help but pinch him.

What could he possibly do at sixteen?

They weren’t married, he was dreaming if he thought it was possible.

”Can we? Just sleeping, I promise I’ll behave,” he coaxed her.

Chiang Xiao, dizzy from his persuasion, said, ”Grandpa and Grandma definitely wouldn’t agree...”

”As long as you agree, I can convince them,” Meng Xinian immediately caught on to her words.

Chiang Xiao was tightly locked in his iron-like arms, his breath filling her nostrils, feeling as though she was drowning in his embrace, her mind turning to mush.

”If you can convince Grandpa and Grandma to agree, then I’ll let you move in...”

She thought that Grandpa and Grandma definitely wouldn’t agree.

But the outcome left her gobsmacked.

At a little past nine at night, Grandma brought another quilt into Chiang Xiao’s room, placed it on her bed, and patted the back of her hand, saying, ”You two should have a quilt each at night, you hear?”

Chiang Xiao was stunned, what did this mean?

Not only did Grandpa and Grandma agree to let Meng Xinian sleep in the same room with her, they even agreed to let them sleep in the same bed? Wasn’t the most compromising solution supposed to be allowing him to sleep on her room’s floor?

After all, there was a blanket laid out next to her large bed. A little tidying up, and sleeping on the floor next to her bed, would have already been pretty outrageous, wouldn’t it?

”You’ve had it so tough in Guan Town these days, it’s uncertain whether he’ll be able to sleep well at night. If talking to you could make him feel better, help him sleep, then keep him company for a chat,” Grandma suggested.

”Grandma, is that what he said?”

Qizhi, it was more than that.

Meng Xinian played the sympathy card with them.

He said that these past few days in Jiguan Village had been so dire, they almost didn’t make it out. With Little, it was as if they had shared a life-and-death ordeal. He mentioned that in the past, after being on the edge of death, he would have two or three days of insomnia because he couldn’t escape the emotions. Some with weaker mental fortitude even needed to see doctors and get sleeping pills prescribed.

But sleeping pills are harmful to the body.

With that one sentence from Meng Xinian, the good and honest grandparents were utterly taken.

They felt sorry for his hardship.

Add to that, Meng Xinian said he only hoped to chat with Chiang Xiao at bedtime, perhaps that would calm his heart and help him sleep.

And just like that, the naive Grandpa and Grandma were convinced by him.

Chiang Xiao was dumbfounded.

Grandpa and Grandma always went to bed early.

After bringing the quilt over, they returned to their own room to sleep. Not long after, Meng Xinian entered the room, looking very serious, and immediately locked the door behind him.

Seeing his demeanor, Chiang Xiao really felt like pouncing on him to tear off his facade of seriousness.
