Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 800: Chapter 801: Father-Son Quarrel

”This is classified.”

”To hell with the classified!” Old Meng suddenly stood up and kicked the coffee table, ”Just tell me if he is in G Province or not!”

Meng Chaojun was silent for a while, ”He’s not.”

There you have it!

If he were in G Province, with such a long year, his clever grandson would certainly have found a way to seize an opportunity to contact him at least once or twice, and he would definitely contact Chiang Xiao too.

But from what Old Tang said, Chiang Xiao didn’t even go to study in City M? And moreover, she ran off to City J with a male classmate who was quite decent-looking?

The two of them even went shopping and dining?

That’s his granddaughter-in-law!

With his eldest grandson having vanished without a trace, could it be he still doesn’t know his granddaughter-in-law never went to study in City M?

Usually, it was Chiang Xiao who contacted him, and during the afternoon when Meng Chaojun and Duan Qingqing were not at home, Chiang Xiao would mostly call him during this time.

He hadn’t even thought to ask her which high school she was attending; he had always assumed it was in City M.

Moreover, when they talked on the phone, Chiang Xiao was mostly concerned about his health and they didn’t chat much. Whenever he occasionally mentioned Xinian, Chiang Xiao would comfort him—

”Brother Xinian must be torturing his comrades until they’re crying.”

He liked to hear such words, listening with joy and smiles, and it never even occurred to him to ask why Xinian hadn’t contacted her for such a long time and whether she was angry with him.

Old Meng, however, wasn’t angry with Chiang Xiao.

In his eyes, she was still a young girl.

Girls like that like novelty, don’t they? With Xinian gone for a year, she’s playing around with her classmates; it seems like a very normal thing.

His anger could only be vented at his son now.

Why on earth did he send him to take part in what special training?

Old Meng didn’t know that Meng Xinian was not taking part in any ordinary special training, and it was even quite dangerous. If he had known, he probably would have fainted from anger.

As father and son raised their voices at each other, Duan Qingqing stood by, looking as if she didn’t dare to let out a breath.

”Dad, why are you asking about Xinian all of a sudden?” Meng Chaojun’s complexion wasn’t looking great either, ”In two more months, Xinian will be back, and you don’t need to worry too much.”

”I’m not worried about him. Is there anyone else in the world who worries about and misses him?” Old Meng barked angrily, ”Is this place even considered his home anymore? Are you even his father?”

Meng Chaojun’s eyes reddened slightly, ”Dad! What are you talking about? That’s my son too! How could I not be worried about him?”

He didn’t intend to harm his own flesh and blood!

If Xinian hadn’t been so unrestrained and disobedient over the years, always thoughtless and reckless, and run away on his own at fifteen, now involving himself with a no-good country girl, would he have signed him up for this special training mission?

Wasn’t he thinking of Xinian’s best interests?

Qingqing was right, just endure this year, and his resume would shine with an even brighter page!

This would be his glory!

Even as a Supervisor Guard, one must strive for the top!

He was giving Xinian an opportunity to grow even more outstanding; what’s wrong with that?

Xinian was still young and unmarried; it was the time to strive hard. Could he let him be held back by a relationship?

If the girl came from a background that matched theirs, he assured he would agree!

But she didn’t!

How could he possibly agree to that?

After a year, when the mission is completed successfully, he would at least not just be a team leader anymore!

Old Meng wanted to say more but caught sight of Meng Chaojun’s slightly reddened eyes, felt a blockage in his heart, and suddenly, his anger receded like the tide.
