Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 765: Chapter 766, Deskmates Must Speak of Fate

”My name is Cui Xiaofu, and as for my personality, it’s, it’s...”

Liu Guoying waved her hand, ”Introverted, timid. You’ll need to practice more. You’ll be the Cultural Committee member.”

The round-faced girl named Cui Xiaofu nearly fainted.

Teacher, oh, teacher! Knowing she’s introverted and timid, why would you make her the Cultural Committee member?

Isn’t that a bit too hasty!

For a moment, the classroom buzzed with discussion.

Only Chiang Xiao laughed with her shoulders shaking.

Many students stood up to introduce themselves, and when it was Chiang Xiao’s turn, she stood up and said directly, ”Teacher, my name is Chiang Xiao, and I like drawing.”

Drawing?

Liu Guoying’s eyes sharpened as she stared at her. ”Do you know what a hobby is? It’s not just about copying a few little girls on comic books.”

”I know,” Chiang Xiao didn’t bother with further words.

She had decided, no matter what, she would study under Liu Guoying again.

In her previous life, she was an utterly unqualified student; she hoped for a chance to make amends in this one.

Liu Guoying signaled for her to sit down.

After all the students had introduced themselves and the newly appointed class officers had gone to the office to move books, the boys at the back came forward, pulled out the stools, and sat down.

The current school didn’t have individual desks and chairs for each student but had shared benches, where one bench seated two people, made from wood that literally could be used to draw demarcation lines.

Upon sitting down, Yu Hang turned to Chiang Xiao and poked her arm. ”Hey, let’s get to know each other, deskmate. Your name’s Chiang Small? Like, the ’small’ in ’big and small’?”

”Zhu Youxiao.” Chiang Xiao moved her arm away and glanced at him, ”Yu Hang, I hope you can change your habit of poking people before talking. At least I don’t appreciate this behavior.”

Yu Hang paused for a moment and then burst into laughter.

When he laughed, his peach-blossom eyes became even more animated.

This boy, in a few years, is sure to break many a girl’s heart.

Xi Minghui, who was seated across from them in another row, heard Chiang Xiao’s remark and couldn’t help but laugh out loud too.

”Finally, a girl who doesn’t fall for your charm! Ah Hang, does your face hurt? If it’s too much for you, we can swap seats!”

”Beat it,” Yu Hang said without even looking his way, kicking a long leg out at him.

Yu Hang continued to smile at Chiang Xiao, ”Alright, alright, I’ll try to change, but if I can’t right away, you’ll just have to put up with it, deskmate. Ten years to share a boat, a hundred years to share a desk!”

The surrounding students couldn’t help but laugh at this.

People began to turn around and talk with Yu Hang and Xi Minghui. Xi Minghui was quite outgoing and cheerful, and he didn’t hesitate to spill the beans on them.

It turned out they were cousins, born the same year, with Yu Hang being two months older.

The two families lived close by, and they had grown up together, fought together, played sports together, and attended the same high school.

”Then haven’t you guys been deskmates since the first grade?” a girl asked Yu Hang, blinking her big eyes, ”If that’s the case, would you like to let Chiang Xiao sit with Wu Jian and you can continue to be deskmates with Xi Minghui?”

She had been smitten with Yu Hang at first sight, and the sight of him being deskmates with Chiang Xiao had left her feeling a bit sour.

If only they could get Chiang Xiao to switch places so that Yu Hang could sit with Xi Minghui.

Of course, the best would be for Yu Hang to be her own deskmate, but she was too shy to say that out loud.

”On the contrary, he and I have never been deskmates before,” Yu Hang said, looking again at Chiang Xiao, ”The matter of deskmates is all about destiny. Since you’re my deskmate, Chiang Xiao, then so be it.”
