Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 716: Chapter 717: Winning an Argument with Fists

But Meng Xinian was still not satisfied.

”How about this, I’ll be staying in Capital City for a few more days this time, so call grandma and grandpa and have them send me a few more boxes via express delivery. I’ll take them to let others try, including a few greedy old men and women who haven’t had a taste yet.”

Chiang Xiao always felt that Meng Xinian spoke with a tone that seemed particularly like he was preparing to deceive those greedy old men and women. She couldn’t help but laugh. ”Where did you meet so many old men and women? Aren’t you afraid that if you coax them into buying such expensive snacks, their children will find out and come after you to settle accounts?”

Meng Xinian snorted and said, ”Well, that’s if they dare to come after me to settle accounts. They just have to not be afraid of being beaten up by me collectively. Besides, those old men and women’s children are pretty well off. If they have money and don’t buy their parents some good food, isn’t that unfilial?”

Pfft.

Okay, in the end, he’s always right.

Even if he wasn’t right, he would enforce his right through his fists.

Who knows how many poor souls he bullied in Capital City with that bully’s aura of his.

If that guy hadn’t been so ruthless back then, neither Gao Wei nor Fong Jianye would have thought about setting him up.

Since he thought there was no problem, Chiang Xiao certainly wouldn’t turn down the potential big order. After hanging up, she immediately called Peace Town and asked Hu Xibing to get on the phone.

She was supposed to call first to alert someone and then call again after fifteen minutes, but to her surprise, Hu Xibing called her back shortly after.

”Chiang Xiao, my tea shop just got a telephone installed yesterday. Take down the number so you can call the shop directly from now on,” he said.

Chiang Xiao was delighted. ”Really?”

”Yes, I just felt it was not very convenient always troubling others to pass messages, and when talking about the tea business, some customers occasionally call to order tea leaves, so it’s more convenient to have our own phone.”

Convenient for him, and also for Meng Xinian and Chiang Xiao.

You should have seen how curious the local militia were every time Meng Xinian called and asked for Chiang Xiao to pick up the phone.

They were always asking what exactly the relationship was between Chiang Xiao and that person in the Alliance District.

After being asked a few times, Hu Xibing also felt that it wasn’t good for Chiang Xiao’s reputation. Just when a few customers were talking about calling him to deliver some tea leaves and realizing there was no phone, their urge to buy tea just dissipated.

So he thought having a phone would really be more convenient.

Thanks to the connection with the local militia, installing the telephone went smoothly.

Chiang Xiao was also very pleased to hear that Hu Xibing’s shop had installed a telephone.

After all, it’s less of a burden to trouble an acquaintance, and she could have some dealings with Hu Xibing, unlike with those people from the militia.

But it was all thanks to the status Meng Xinian held that he was able to pave the way for this.

”That’s really great, I’ll probably have to trouble you quite a bit from now on, Brother Hu. Actually, I need your help with something right now.”

Hu Xibing hastily replied, ”No trouble at all, no trouble. Just tell me, running over to Osmanthus Alley is not a problem for me at all.”

Unexpectedly, right as he said that, Yu Chunyu, who had just walked into the shop, overheard him.

Normally she couldn’t have known who was on the phone with Hu Xibing, but upon hearing the mention of ”Osmanthus Alley,” she instantly guessed that the person on the other end was Chiang Xiao.
