Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 609: Chapter 610 Afraid of Trouble

These were not any valuable antiques, and the style was not to her liking at all.

On the right were two rooms, both arranged in a straight line, The rooms were quite spacious, but the furniture was similar in style to the living room, which Chiang Xiao found unattractive and undesirable.

Moreover, the walls were rather gloomy; if she were to buy the house, she would have to repaint them entirely.

To the left were a kitchen, a dining room, and a staircase leading up to the second floor.

The staircase was made of wooden planks and creaked as you stepped on it.

”Sister-in-law, this staircase doesn’t seem very durable, does it?”

”It is quite old indeed, but this creaking noise, I remember it from many years ago. It’s still been in use all these years, I reckon there shouldn’t be a problem,” Sister-in-law Zhang’s heart skipped a beat.

She hadn’t noticed the staircase creaking this loudly when she entered before.

If even the staircase needed to be renovated and rebuilt, then the asking price would really have to be cut down.

The second floor was not as large as the first floor, less than half the size, but it still had two small rooms and a bathroom. The wooden floors were sturdy, and there were no loud noises as you walked around.

The rooms had windows facing the yard and the gate outside, but they were conveniently blocked by the Magnolia Tree, so they weren’t too ostentatious.

In this regard, Chiang Xiao was quite satisfied.

Upstairs there was no furniture, just some broken boxes and cabinets, all in disarray.

The house was indeed large and Chiang Xiao was satisfied with the size and design; it was just a bit run-down. However, there seemed to be no issues with the building’s main structure.

”Little sister, what do you think? If you like it, you could talk to the elders about it when you get back, and then they could come have a look too,” the eldest sister suggested.

”Sister-in-law, I can say that I like the house five out of ten; it’s big and seems quiet enough, but it really is too old, it wasn’t well maintained before, was it vandalized?”

”Sigh, indeed it was. My uncle had overseas connections, and he suffered quite a bit because of that in the old days. This house was confiscated for a while and several families moved in,” Sister-in-law Zhang spoke frankly, ”Not long ago, my uncle’s daughter returned and pulled some strings to reclaim the house. The initial plan was to renovate it themselves and keep it as the ancestral home, thinking my uncle might want to move back in someday. But then, as soon as this plan came up, my mother-in-law and my sister-in-law, that Zhang Xiaomei you had a run-in with earlier, they started eyeing this house.”

Sister-in-law Zhang sighed and continued, ”You see, I and my uncle are distant relatives of the Zhang Family. My mother-in-law is quite difficult and fierce. She made a fuss with my aunt, claiming the house should give her and Zhang Xiaomei a room each. That way, they could help look after the house and prevent it from falling further into disrepair. But they are such troublemakers, their ruckus angered my aunt who, in a fit of rage, decided to sell the house.”

So that was the story.

Zhang Xiaomei, huh...

Chiang Xiao frowned, ”So if I buy this house, wouldn’t I be inviting trouble?”

Sister-in-law Zhang quickly waved her hands and said, ”How could that be? Once the money is paid and the paperwork is done, the house is yours. If they dare to cause trouble, you can call the police!”

She made it sound easy. But from what she said, if the house was bought, Zhang Xiaomei and Old Zhang’s wife would probably still cause trouble.
