Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 573: Chapter 574 When I Have Grass for Brains

”If you think hitting him would hurt your hand, then leave it to me.” Meng Xinian looked at her and said, ”What he said isn’t true. That Du something Ruo, I probably should say I know her, we lived in the same compound when we were kids, might have played together before I was ten, but even back then I didn’t play with girls, the most was them sniveling brats liking to follow us around. Anyway, I don’t remember her much, all those sniveling brats in the compound looked pretty much the same, and I couldn’t be bothered to remember what they looked like.”

Chiang Xiao stared at him blankly.

Meng Xinian’s voice was husky as he continued, ”I went to the auditorium to see the performance, originally wanting to talk to you about it afterward, I can’t always just write to you about training, can I? But then Gao Wei showed up, right, Gao Wei is also from the compound, we’d been at odds since we were kids, up until I was fifteen, we fought almost every two to three days, but he never won against me once.”

”Maybe Gao Wei liked that Du snot, then like a freaking idiot he brought up a bunch of chrysanthemums on stage to ask her out to the movies, how was I to know, that Du snot would suddenly run over to me, saying she had something to tell me?”

That Du snot...

Du snot...

Chiang Xiao felt completely defeated. How could a decent, pretty girl earn such a nickname?

If she were Du Jinruo, with this kind of man, why bother at all? Just beat him to death and be done with it!

But of course, she wouldn’t dare say that out loud, she could only quickly refocus.

So what happened in the end, just ended up like what happened later.

”So you still went out to fight with Gao Wei?”

”Fight with him?” Meng Xinian scoffed, raising an eyebrow and lifting his bandaged fist, ”He’s now a Supervisor Guard Academy student, and I am a bona fide Supervisor Guard, what do you think, would it look good if I broke his rib with one punch right in the barracks? So, I went straight to the conference room to sleep once I walked out the door.”

He knew if he returned to the dorm or went somewhere else, he would quickly be found by others, so he went to the conference room. At that time, it was already night, and no one would be in the conference room.

He had just returned from intensive training, extremely exhausted, and he had no interest at all in Gao Wei’s brainless suggestion. Sleeping seemed far better.

Chiang Xiao was bewildered, ”So, you didn’t go to duel, but hid to sleep instead?”

”I already have a fiancée, why would I duel over another woman? Do you think my head is full of grass?”

Meng Xinian grabbed a pack of unopened medical cotton from the first aid kit and tossed it at her nose.

Thud.

Chiang Xiao covered her nose.

”After coming back from specialized training, covered in mud, reeking of sweat, the first thing I did was to get your letter, but Xiao Qian told me there wasn’t one.”

After saying that, he just looked at her.

That’s why he thought, this lass really deserved a spanking.

Before seeing her, he kept thinking that once he caught her, he would show no mercy, strip her down, and smack her butt hard!

But now, having actually caught her, he only had the heart to toss at her a pack of light, nearly weightless cotton.

Could that vent his frustration?

Of course not.

Yet, seeing her cover her nose, he actually felt an urge to help rub her nose for her.

Meng Xinian wondered if it was because he was so much older than her, that subconsciously he felt he should indulge her?
