Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 534: Chapter 535: Fiercely Defending His Own Wife (For Lusè +1)

Moreover, he had seen Meng Xinian with Chiang Xiao and felt that she was not unsuitable for him at all. Wouldn’t it be fine to just wait a few more years?

He had been struggling with whether to tell Chiang Xiao about this or not, and then Chiang Xiao showed up.

”Brother Hu, haven’t I told you many times? You really don’t need to address me like that, just call me by my name. Otherwise, you call me sister-in-law, and I call you Brother, don’t you think that’s awkward?”

Chiang Xiao was quite exasperated.

No matter what she said, he wouldn’t listen. Were her words really that ineffective?

Did what Tyrant Meng say carry more weight?

Right, Captain Meng even insisted that he and Xinzi and the others call Chiang Xiao ’sister-in-law’. He must be serious about this, right? He should take responsibility then!

Now he was unclear with another woman, what was that about?

Chiang Xiao really needed to know about this!

As Hu Xibing thought about this, he straightened his face and asked Chiang Xiao, ”Not awkward. Sister-in-law, has Captain Meng sent you any letters these past few days?”

”I received one a few days ago. He said they would have another round of intensive training after resting for two days, lasting for fifteen days. During that time, he probably won’t be able to write to me,” Chiang Xiao didn’t think much of it, as they were so familiar with each other, and she told him about it.

So that meant, after the incident that night, Captain Meng had sent a letter to Chiang Xiao? Hu Xibing quickly asked, ”Did Captain Meng mention anything else in the letter?”

Er, put on the spot like that, Chiang Xiao actually blushed a bit.

How should she explain it?

That guy had written four pages and even listed his own merits, with shamelessness seeping through the paper. He also told her that although he couldn’t reply within those fifteen days, she shouldn’t stop sending letters. She should continue at the usual pace so that when he got back to the base, he could reply to several of her letters at once.

Moreover, he said that however many letters she wrote, he would reply to the same number, and he wouldn’t dismiss her with just one letter.

These things.... It wasn’t really appropriate to tell Hu Xibing, was it? She should maintain some dignity for Tyrant Meng and not let others know that he could be so childish.

”No, he didn’t say anything else. It was just about life in the barracks, nothing special.” After saying this, Chiang Xiao suddenly felt something was wrong, ”Brother Hu, are you asking this for a reason?”

Hu Xibing thought Chiang Xiao was smart enough, savvy enough. Now he couldn’t not say it.

”Sister-in-law, here’s the thing, I made a call to the base a few days ago. I got Zhao Xin on the line because I wanted to ask him to check on Chu Liang, but it just so happened that there was a bit of an issue at the base.”

Seeing his expression, Chiang Xiao immediately felt that it must have something to do with herself; otherwise, Hu Xibing wouldn’t look like this.

Something to do with Tyrant Meng?

But in the letter, he truly didn’t mention anything.

”What happened?”

Hu Xibing said, ”That night there was a performance by the Female Supervisor Guard of the literary and arts team, and during the performance, a girl from the team who knew Captain Meng was on stage. A guy ran up to present her with flowers and asked her out to see a movie. But the girl refused him and ran to Captain Meng’s side, saying she wanted to go out with him. The guy got angry and said he wanted to fight Captain Meng, with the winner becoming the girl’s partner and the loser had to stay away from her.”

He paused and looked at Chiang Xiao’s expression, seeing that she was calm, he cautiously continued, ”The people in the auditorium stirred up trouble, saying the girl and Captain Meng were a couple and even egged on Captain Meng to file for marriage, insisting he must beat the guy to stridantly defend his own future wife...”
