Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 478: Chapter 479 Tea Cake Business Opportunity

”Miss Xiao Chiang,” she called her by the name Uncle Huo used, ”These are tea cakes I made myself. One type is made with tea powder, which is the green one, and there’s another kind mixed with honey. Try them and see which you like, and then I’ll make some more for you to take home.”

Uncle Huo had told her in private that Xiao Chiang’s Ganoderma water was something else. Both father and son had benefited greatly from it, so Aunt Ah Yu was very grateful to Chiang Xiao and hence so enthusiastic.

Old Huo also kept urging Chiang Xiao to eat the tea cakes.

After drinking the Lingzhi water, he felt his Essence, Qi, and Spirit instantly revitalized. Such a fine thing, freely shared by Xiao Chiang without a second thought, made him think very highly of her generosity and openness.

”Aunt Ah Yu, you are really skilled with your hands.” Chiang Xiao meant every word of her sincere compliment. She picked up a green tea cake, took a bite, and immediately, the fragrance and coolness of the tea leaves filled her mouth.

”Delicious!” Chiang Xiao’s eyes lit up. She truly hadn’t expected the tea powder cake to be this tasty!

”My daughter-in-law loves to tinker with food. She mostly makes sweet things. I can’t eat much of them, and often nobody eats what she makes,” said Old Huo.

But Aunt Ah Yu was all smiles, her eye brows dancing with delight. To see someone enjoy the pastries she handcrafted was a satisfaction unlike any other.

And the way Chiang Xiao ate, with eyes sparkling, evoked the contentment of a kitten, with a bit of tea powder on her lips, which she quickly licked away and smiled, nearly closing her eyes with pleasure. Watching her, one could swear the tea cakes tasted heavenly.

”Try the honey one, though this is a bit sweeter,” Aunt Ah Yu quickly pushed the honey cakes towards her.

Chiang Xiao sipped the tea, finding the aftertaste to linger deliciously.

”How can there be no one to eat these? Isn’t there a restaurant and a tea shop at the foot of the mountain? These tea cakes would be perfect to sell there,” Chiang Xiao said as she picked up a honey cake and took a bite, hmm, sweet and soft, too delicious!

Girls are sure to like these two kinds of tea cakes!

Aunt Ah Yu shook her head: ”Most of the customers at the foot of the mountain are passing travelers who usually only eat enough rice and noodles to fill their stomachs, and the men who drink tea are not very interested in sweet stuff.”

”So do you make them just for your own enjoyment?”

”Not really. I can’t eat that much myself. I like to make them, so I often give them away to relatives and sisters.”

An idea sparked in Chiang Xiao’s mind, and she suddenly said, ”Have you ever thought of opening your own handmade tea cake workshop?” Moreover, handmade products could target the higher-end market. If they used top-quality ingredients and packaging was well-designed, the prices would definitely not be low. Someone from her dorm, a rich second generation, often brought pastries back, and a small box of just six tiny pieces, each just a bite-size, was sold for 398 yuan!

She had only tried them once and felt as though she was eating gold.

Now, having tasted Aunt Ah Yu’s tea cakes, Chiang Xiao thought they were no less delicious than the six-piece box that cost 398 yuan, perhaps even tastier, leaving a lingering fragrance in her mouth.

”A handmade tea cake workshop? What’s that? How much could that sell for?” Aunt Ah Yu shook her head, ”I don’t know anything about that.”

Old Huo also said, ”It’s not feasible. Just take these two types Ah Yu makes—the tea powder is made from our own tea leaves ground to powder. Even though it’s our own product, the tea is expensive, and the honey is made from bees kept by her father, pure and top-notch. If we sell them cheap, it would certainly be at a loss.”
