Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 201: Chapter 201: Ready to Go Up the Mountain

Chiang Songhai had always known that Chiang Xiao did not like the people of the Old Chiang Family.

When she was little, she used to tell him everything, and at that time, she always came to him with tears in her eyes, saying, ”Grandpa, Grandpa, Aunt always scolds my mom, always scolds me. I don’t like her.”

”Grandpa, Second Uncle looks at me so fiercely, I’m scared.”

”Grandpa, Auntie from the eldest uncle’s family sneaked a pinch on me again today, it hurts so much, Grandpa, will you go and beat her up for me?”

Wasn’t Chiang Xiao about five or six years old then?

But he always said to her, ”Little Little, they are elders and they love you and care for you in their hearts. It’s just that they are all rough people who don’t know how to say nice things. If they scold you, they don’t mean it. As the younger generation, you should not take these things to heart or bear any grudges against them. It’s not a big deal to suffer a little loss; after all, suffering is a blessing. When something happens in the future, you still need everyone to help you out.”

Latter on, Chiang Xiao stopped telling him anything and became more and more silent and introverted, spending all day alone hiding by Nameless Creek without a single friend.

He thought she had taken his advice to heart, but now that he thought about it, perhaps Little Little was disappointed in him, wasn’t she?

Because she was disappointed in him and felt that he would not protect her, she didn’t want to speak anymore; now she had to fight back on her own.

Chiang Songhai now remembered that delicate, tender little girl who used to tell him everything right away; his heart grew more and more sour.

Had he truly made a mistake?

Chiang Xiao also thought about her childhood, and now looking back, she realized that rather than resenting others for the tragedy of her previous life, it’s more to the point to resent herself.

Her desire to flee from her grandfather, from the Old Chiang Family, from Siyang Village, was correct.

However, she placed all her hopes and future in the hands of another ”relative.” The yielding she had been taught over the years by her grandfather allowed her to convince herself even after she realized she had painted so much yet earned so little, and even after seeing Lin Wanqing becoming famous with her Artistry, that she should not fight back or reclaim what was hers, but rather persuade herself with the same reasoning her grandfather had taught her.

At that time, she considered Deng Qingjiang her benefactor, as he had pulled her out of the mire of Siyang Village. Therefore, later, no matter how overboard his actions were, she told herself that even if it was out of gratitude, giving it to him was fine.

Now that she thought about it, what her grandfather had taught her had indeed worn her out quite a bit.

Yet, Chiang Xiao couldn’t bring herself to resent her grandfather for this and just leave them behind.

Just as mentioned before, instead of resenting others, it was better to resent oneself. Her grandfather had only taught her until she was seventeen, but after that, she went to high school, went to college, why hadn’t she grown up? Why hadn’t she reflected on herself?

So, in this life, she would not let anyone influence her again; she would walk the path her heart desired.

It’s just that the atmosphere between the three generations was indeed not very good, a bit oppressive.

Fortunately, after a short while, Ge Dejun came over with a young man.

”Little Little, you got up so early? Waiting for great uncle?” As soon as Ge Dejun entered, he saw Chiang Xiao and immediately smiled, handing her an oil paper package, ”Here, these are vegetarian buns. Do you like them?”

The day before yesterday at the hospital, Chiang Xiao had bought this type of vegetarian buns, and Ge Dejun thought she liked them. Today, he spent money to buy six.

Truth be told, when he came to the Chiang Family yesterday, he had already brought gifts, and with Ge Xiaotong needing money in the hospital, these six buns were the most he could afford right now.

Chiang Xiao accepted the buns, found they were still warm, and her heart couldn’t help but warm up; she gave Ge Dejun a bright smile.

”Thank you, Great Uncle! I do like them!”
