Brother Dao Took the Entertainment Industry by Storm, Fans Beg Me Not to Kill Anymore

[Rational discussion, why does Song Chenye seem a bit like he’s gone on a killing spree this episode?]

[Isn’t it normal for Brother Xiao to go on a rampage in the drama? In his last drama, he was pulling teeth from people’s mouths [Mo Tun tooth-pulling meme]]

[This is for analytical discussion, please take the memes next door, thank you!]

[I feel like there’s a little bit of that, but Song Chenye has been taking revenge like this before too. There’s clearly no difference, it just feels weird in my heart.]

[After investigating clearly, Song Chenye directly went to kill at Thousand Leaves Manor. It feels like he didn’t consider Liu Zhilin’s feelings at all. Liu Zhilin originally had deep connections with Thousand Leaves Manor, and Gong Lin is also a blood relative. Yet Song Chenye went and killed her without a word, and didn’t even tell Liu Zhilin in advance. It just feels... anyway, it feels like Song Chenye was in a hurry, as if he was afraid Liu Zhilin would stop him.]

[It really is that feeling. And actually, Liu Zhilin and Gong Lin are considered very distant distant relatives, their relationship isn’t that close. Plus, Liu Zhilin also knows about all the rotten things Gong Lin did. I think based on Liu Zhilin’s personality, he most likely wouldn’t stop Song Chenye... so I think Song Chenye didn’t handle this too well here.]

[Maybe it’s because the main perspective this time is on Liu Zhilin. That is to say, in this moment, we are empathizing with Liu Zhilin, not Song Chenye. That’s why we feel like Song Chenye has gone on a killing spree. But in reality, he has never changed; he has always been killing his enemies.]

[Actually, I can understand Song Chenye. If he had told Liu Zhilin in advance, it would have put Liu Zhilin in a dilemma. Helping or not helping would both be wrong, so it’s better not to tell him.]

[I think this episode can really be savored carefully. Before, it was just straightforward revenge, but this time, more complex emotional factors were added. I inexplicably feel that Song Chenye’s path of revenge is becoming more and more difficult, losing the initial feel-good revenge novel feeling. Now it feels somewhat heavy (not saying it’s not good to watch). And his relationship with Liu Zhilin... I always feel like a foreshadowing is buried.]

[It really is like that. Mainly because the enemies killed before were purely enemies. But this enemy is a relative of a good friend, so the feeling might be more complicated.][I don’t see where it’s complicated. I’ve disliked Gong Lin for a long time. It was all her own problem, and she killed someone else’s mother. Yet the first thing she did upon seeing Song Chenye was directly insult his mother. If I were Song Chenye, I would have chopped her down long ago, why wait until now.]

[Indeed, back then when Song Chenye let her go, I was especially angry, feeling Song Chenye’s character had collapsed. He let her go out of consideration for Liu Zhilin’s face. But now I know, he was actually preparing to collect more evidence, so Gong Lin’s rotten deeds would have nowhere to hide.]

[Actually, there’s really no need to empathize with Liu Zhilin. Before, when Song Chenye killed enemies, he did it directly. Only with Gong Lin, out of consideration for Liu Zhilin, did he thoroughly investigate Gong Lin’s past deeds, laid out all the evidence clearly, and then took action. I think he already respected Liu Zhilin very much. Otherwise, based on the early suspicions about Gong Lin, Song Chenye would have acted long ago.]

[So this point is very ironic. When a good person does something with even a slight flaw, they get fiercely judged. But when a bad person does countless bad things, there are still people who criticize the good person because of her death. Isn’t that absurd?]

[Right, I think this topic is asked very strangely. Song Chenye didn’t kill people indiscriminately. Everyone he killed was either an enemy or a bad person. Yet just because he killed a relative of his friend, people say he’s gone on a killing spree. How does it make it seem like he’s become the bad guy?]

[When we say he’s the ultimate villain of the whole drama, we’re just memeing! Some people really shouldn’t get delusional. Just because Song Chenye and Liu Zhilin have a good relationship, does he have to let go of the enemy who killed his own mother? Then you really are a great Buddha.]

[Great, our ”Record of Chasing the Wind” also has its own great Buddha. [dog head emoji]]
