Algorithm system

Just to save face, you don’t want any money anymore? How could Lin Yuan’s path of begging and pleading be complete without his mentor?

His mentor was as usual, not cowering like Dean Li did right away.

But this time, his mentor also didn’t go all out immediately.

The reason, of course, was, ”Lin Yuan, this time there’s truly nothing I can do.”

”The conditions Good Group offered you this time are too harsh. Offending one company is fine, but other students at the school still need jobs.

So I can’t openly support you. After all, my identity is a professor at Zijin Aviation School, and I represent the school’s stance…”

”Teacher, I understand.” Lin Yuan was quite understanding of this. ”The school indeed has no excuse to interfere in this matter. I’m just trying everything I can, hoping to ask if there’s any other way out besides being conquered by Good Group.”

”I’ve thought about it for you. The school isn’t convenient to step forward, but you can leverage others.”

Lin Yuan immediately perked up, ”Whose strength should I borrow?” Based on his understanding of his mentor, the latter wouldn’t encourage him to cling to Zhang Yan like Old Li did.

”Leverage the open-source community. If you open-source your previous AI Feng Shui model parameters, wouldn’t that solve it?”

Lin Yuan instantly understood, ”I’ll directly open-source the food delivery algorithm implementation process that Good Group asked me for. This way, Good Group won’t be able to use this to attack me, because behind it is the vast open-source community supported by the entire open-source spirit.”

”Exactly, you are teachable. Good Group is making a big splash this time, aren’t they? Their stock price is soaring, and many leaders have come to endorse them. Why don’t you make it even better for them? Isn’t the country constantly emphasizing industrial upgrading now? You might as well help Good Group out.”

Watching the smile on his mentor’s face, Lin Yuan thought to himself, ’As expected, the older ginger is spicier.’

This way, if Good Group were to sue him again, they would first lose the moral high ground.

First, the implementation process of this algorithm itself falls within the scope of work experience. Although there can be different legal interpretations, as long as the legal department has enough lawyers, they can always dig up a few clauses to make Lin Yuan’s life difficult.

However, if Lin Yuan goes all out and directly open-sources it.

Then go ahead and sue, if you’re not afraid of being drowned in public criticism.

Since Good Group’s momentum is huge this time, once Lin Yuan open-sources it, it will be an overt scheme. It just depends on whether Good Group is willing to tear off the facade they painstakingly created.

The algorithm is a small matter; the stock price is a big one.

Furthermore, the public sector would never want capital to monopolize technology or suppress young people.

Monopolizing technology goes against the current national policy. As for suppressing young people, young people are already very distressed now, and the public sector dares not stand against them.

So, this is a naked overt scheme.

”Teacher, you truly are my esteemed mentor. I’ll organize the documents immediately and open-source it right away.”

”Alas,” Professor Zhang sighed, ”You could have gotten rich with this algorithm. I wouldn’t say you’d be worth hundreds of millions, but selling it for tens of millions would be no problem. Once you open-source it, it really becomes charity work.

Although I am indifferent to fame and fortune, you are still young, so you must decide for yourself.

Whether to work well for Good Group and be their white-collar worker, or to fight to the death, not even caring about money, just to win this argument.”

Professor Zhang was right. If Lin Yuan really open-sourced it, it would be a self-destructive confrontation with Good Group. All he would gain is ”an argument,” while losing tens of millions in benefits, as Good Group was indeed willing to pay.

”No need to think about it further!” Lin Yuan shouted.

Professor Zhang stared at him excitedly, anticipating that this student, whom he highly valued, would utter the answer he desired.

”Money is valuable,” Lin Yuan paced and said word by word, with an air of tragic heroism, ”but freedom is more precious...”

Lin Yuan originally wanted to continue showing off, to embellish his aspirations with a five-character quatrain.
